CONCLUSION
The main point of the Chinatown Snapshot project is to create a unique way to see and compare the historical neighborhood. For me, it has been a real journey of discovery “now and then” of Chinatown. The iPad application provides historical photo based on location that serves as an important connection from past to the present. I want to encourage users to explore different historical spaces by immersing themselves in the real-world feeling of this neighborhood. The Chinatown Snapshot project also supports augmented reality feature. While walking in Chinatown, users hold up their iPad to the scene and use it as a window into the past of exact spot 100 years ago and switch into current time results. My challenges for this project is to reshoot the same scene from the same perspective. I reshot six well-known locations and the process was really amazing. I’m so excited how much this neighborhood has changed in the last hundred years.
