Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Garden Centre Magazine for The Secret Garden

Inside this edition you can find a plentiful amount of information on what you can find instore, as well as a handy section on monthly garden tips. With knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand in store to help with advice or inspiration, complemented by the huge variety of stock available, you will be sure to find what you need for your upcoming garden and/or home projects. This edition also includes many different informative editorials and alongside you will find local businesses whose services may just be what you are looking for.

We have also launched a digital copy of the magazine, available to view on your smart phone instantly. With over 30 years experience we are a traditional garden centre and a specialist nursery propagating unusual top-quality plants. We are proud to be a small independent family business, working closely with local suppliers and companies.

The oldest parts of the farmhouse are around 400 years old. The Williams family has worked at the farm for four generations. Over the years, the farm has seen many changes. In 1970, Brian Williams decided to start growing and selling bedding plants and running the dairy farm. The first glasshouse by the roadside was built, which you can still see now. By the 1990s, the garden centre had flourished and expanded. The main farm buildings are still recognisable. The addition of the polytunnels made it possible to propagate unique plants and create hanging baskets, part of our business which we are still known for today.

We are a place that desires to inspire! Whether you’re visiting our garden centre for the first, or the hundredth time, we always do our best to make our customers feel at home. Our fantastic team of staff is at your service, creating the garden of your dreams.

Brighten up your garden with conifers, trees and bedding plants. We offer a fantastic range of our famous hanging baskets, filled with bedding plants. Even in winter, our garden centre offers a wonderful range of outdoor plants to colour your winter.

HOUSE PLANTS

Create a garden inside your house!

With the range of lush greenery and flowers of houseplants that we stock, you will not only make your house look beautiful but also improve your quality of life! Research has shown that in an average room, just two or three houseplants improve air quality, pump feel-good oxygen back into the air and reduce stress.

Within our range we stock architectural palms and ferns for a minimalistic look to pretty African Violets, Daffodils & Stephanotis.

Houseplants like a bright spot out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Mist regularly with water to keep humidity high to keep them at their best.

GARDENING

We have a huge range of bagged composts, soil improvers and fertilisers to keep your container plants happy and your soil in tip-top health.

Tools are a gardener’s best friend, hand tools help in the garden for everything from pruning to digging to sowing to weeding. Here at the garden centre, we stock a huge range of tools from a basic kit to specialist tools. These include secateurs, hoes, rakes, saws and garden knives.

Protection for your plants is vital to keep them healthy and thriving in extreme weather or against pests and diseases. We have a range of defences against the main threats to your plants available at the garden centre such as horticultural fleece, hessian sheets, netting, biological controls, slug barriers and insecticidal sprays.

GARDEN FURNITURE

Garden furniture is a key component to any beautiful garden. Whether you have guests over or just need somewhere by yourself to sit, our garden furniture range will have what you need to be comfortable in your own garden.

Our range includes plenty of lounge sets, parasols, small benches, dining sets, large patio tables and hard oak wooden furniture. We have something for everyone here at The Secret Garden regardless of what outdoor area you have.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Outdoor living spaces is what turns a garden into a home.

Here at the garden centre we can help you achieve this! With a selection of BBQ’s, Pizza Ovens & Firepits we can turn your garden into a people paradise.

All of our outdoor living products are from reputable brands that focus on quality craftsmanship so you know that you are getting the best on the market.

CONTAINERS

Most plants will grow quite happily in containers and you can make just as fabulous display using plants in containers as you can in the garden!

In our garden centre you’ll find a container for every plant: just match your plants to the pot that suits it best for instant success.

Pots - come in a huge range of styles and materials from ceramic to terracotta, stainless steel and stone.

Troughs & grow spaces - work brilliantly for growing vegetables on the patio. Place troughs against a wall to grow climbing beans, or divide a grow space as small as 1m x 1m into squares for planting a surprisingly wide variety of fruit and veg.

Hanging baskets - brighten up the dingiest of entrance ways with a beautiful hanging basket. In our garden centre you’ll find not only the baskets but also liners and waterretaining gel to mix into the compost to hold on to moisture for longer.

BIRD CARE

Birds are a beautiful aspect to any garden, an array of bird life around the garden can be a nice feeling.

To achieve a flourishing garden full of birds and other wildlife you will need to equip your garden with a few bird essentials.
