Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Garden Centre Magazine for Plantsplus Garden Centre,

Inside this edition you can find a plentiful amount of information on what you can find instore, including a section on monthly garden tips. With knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand in store to help with advice or inspiration, complemented by the huge variety of stock available, you will be sure to find what you need for your upcoming garden and/or home projects. This edition also includes many different informative editorials and alongside you will find local businesses whose services may just be what you are looking for.

We have also launched a digital copy of the magazine, available to view on your smart phone instantly. Please scan the QR code, featured at the bottom of this page, and this will bring up the publication for you to view. One of the most exciting features of our digital publication is that you can interact with the garden centre's social media or connect with local business websites with just a quick tap on your device.

he original site on which Plantsplus Garden Centre is now established started life in the 1960s. From then it has had many purposes, from a plant nursey to a horticultural, wholesale cash and carry business.

It wasn’t until 2016 when the site was purchased by the parent company, Berwick Garden Centre Ltd, that it became the Plantsplus Garden Centre that we know and love today.

After much planning and major re-development of the whole site, we have become a multi-

departmental garden centre with a new restaurant and are now one of the fastest growing and most innovative garden centres within the area.

We have not forgotten our roots and proudly continue to grow a wide variety of plants on site, which not only allows us to supply top quality product all year round, it also massively cuts down on our emissions making us a more sustainable business.

Plants are what we do best. Our very impressive plant area is full of stunning displays that change almost weekly. Stocked full of high-quality produce, we pride ourselves on having a large variety of both common and unusual plants to suit all levels of gardening abilities. If you need any advice on plant care or general gardening suggestions, ask our very knowledgeable plant team – they will be happy to help!

In our ‘Grow Your Own’ section you can find everything you need to grow your own fruit and veg at home – we have a large selection of trees, bushes, shrubs, seeds and bulbs. As well as any larger items you may need such as raised beds and greenhouses. We also have a large selection of garden sundries and tools, where you will find everything you need to look after and manage your garden space.

If you would like something that we don’t happen to have in stock, please get in touch and we can try our best to order it in for you.

We are very proud to have our own plant nursey on site—ensuring that we can provide you with the highest quality plants, all year round.

Famously known for producing our stunning hanging baskets during the Summer seasons, we also grow our own bedding plants, perennials and seasonal shrubs. The quality of what we produce ensure our lovely customers keep returning year on year.

Another huge advantage of home growing is that we are massively cutting down on our emissions. We’re not having to transport out products, and we also use reduced peat growing methods.

Restaurant

Our thriving restaurant has been serving the community for over five years now. Whether you are after a spot of lunch or an afternoon tea or coffee and cake break, the staff will be only too pleased to assist. Using local produce where possible, our talented chefs have a large menu on offer as well as changing daily specials. Not to mention our show stopping cake counter.

Plantsplus restaurants offers up to two hundred people dining, and during the warmer weather you can dine from our patio, whilst you admire our plant area.

Throughout the Summer school holidays, we have different promotions and offers on. And to keep the children entertained whilst you enjoy your lunch and a relaxing cup of tea, we have an impressive, onsite playpark where they can burn off some steam.

Farm Shop

Bringing top quality, local produce to our community

We proudly sell a very wide variety of local products in our Farm Shop. Our range is very extensive—if you are after meats or cheese, chocolates or cakes we ensure we provide the highest quality produce possible. Our talented inhouse bakers also package up their cakes and traybakes, so you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

In our Farm Shop you will find lots of goodies and treats, which are perfect if you’re looking to gift a loved one – or perhaps just treat yourself! We also create hampers all year around, for various different occasions. Our hampers can be altered and made bespoke to your needs.

As well as food, we stock a large number of wines, spirits and beers. Lindisfarne Mead, Hadrian’s Wall Gin and Alnwick Rum are just a few of the well-known, local drinks we have to offer. We also stock wines from all over the world, you are sure to find something for your weekend treat.

Our newest addition within this department is our milkshake vending machines from Bays Leap Dairy Farm—just 8 miles from Plantsplus, it’s hard to get produce more local than that! Our vending machine offers a variety of flavours with changing weekly specials.

Northumberland Family Butcher

Meet your award-winning, local butcher, Michael. Northumberland Family Butchers were established in November 2022 and Michael holds over 30 years of experience within the industry. A brand new in-store coldroom, cutting room and chilled counter display provide the perfect facilities for Michael to display his wares.

Located within our Farm Shop, you will find Michael and his team seven days a week serving only the highest quality, local produce. All meat is locally sourced and selected by Michael himself to ensure customers are getting the very best quality.

As well as the traditional products such as pork chops and homemade burgers, they also sell some slightly wackier flavours such as Strawberry & Cracker Black Pepper or Rhubarb & Custard sausages— trust us it works, try them for yourself and you’ll see!

Pets & Aquatics

We are home to one of the largest pet stores within the area. We stock a large range of live animals and all of the regular care items that you will need to look after them. Aquatics, reptiles, rodents, and birds – we have the lot. You’ll also find everything you need to look after your furry friends. Stocking a large range of dog and cat food, toys to keep them engaged and treats for when they’re looking extra cute.

Our aquatics range is very impressive – we have a huge range of fish in stock, which is constantly being replenished. If there is a species we don’t stock, ask one of our team and we will try to order it in for you. If you’re just starting out or looking to upgrade your set up, we stock tanks, chemicals, and even aquatic plants.

Looking for your first pet? Our extremely knowledgeable team are happy to put together a starter kit for you, complete with everything you will need to look after your new best friend. We can also provide you with a care sheet and offer advice throughout your pet’s life.

You don’t need to own an animal to enjoy our pet department. Enhance the wildlife within your garden by purchasing bird tables and feed. We also stock bumblebee towers and hedgehog homes!

Gift Shop

Whether you are buying for yourself or looking to treat someone, we really do have something for all ages - whatever the occasion may be.

Our gift department is a stopping point for many during the school holidays. With lots of books, toys and puzzles we have plenty to keep the younger generation entertained and engaged. For those who enjoy self-care and relaxation we have toiletries suitable for both genders, with many recognisable brands such as Inis Fragrances. If you’re after something more sentimental we have a range of jewellery and glassware perfect for birthdays and anniversaries.

Within our gift department, we also stock a range of both modern and traditional homeware pieces. We keep up to date with the latest colour schemes and decoration, there is something to suit all styles.

Furniture & BBQ

When the warmer weather makes an appearance, we all want to get out there and enjoy our garden. To many this means entertaining and dining alfresco with their friends and family. We stock a range of different furniture styles at various price points, to satisfy all tastes. From 2-seater bistro tables to 6-seater outdoor dining sets, there is something to suit all. For when the nights start to get a bit chillier, we have fire pits and chimineas available.

When you’re entertaining, a BBQ is a great addition to your outside area. Again, with different sizes and price points, there is something to suit all. Alongside this we stock fuel, and BBQ accessories so you can pick up everything you need in one spot. You could even pick up some sausages and burgers from our Farm Shop!

Pots & Hard Landscaping

If you’re looking to carry out bigger jobs in your garden, we have your requirements covered. Our hard landscaping department stocks fencing, paving and decorative aggregates. If you’re after advice or a helping hand with heavier items, ask our team for our ‘carry to your car’ service – we’re happy to help you out! For those final finishing touches we have an abundance of pots and stoneware, to jazz up your outdoor space.

For those heavier items we have our ‘carry to your car service’. If you need some extra help, please ask a member of staff who will be happy to assist.

And for those items that don’t fit in your car, we offer delivery within a 35 mile radius for an additional cost, subject to distance.

We have gift cards for sale that can be purchased and loaded with any amount to be used in any of our three garden centres; Berwick, Dunbar and Plantsplus.
