It was created as a commemoration of International Day of the Girl Child. This short film is a call to everyone on the collective responsibility to work with survivors as allies and collaborators to bring an end to the menace of sexual violence, eliminate stigmatization and protect the girl child.

When WWl broke out in 1914, the 90th Winnipeg Rifles were one of the first regiments asked to form a battalion for the Canadian Expeditionary Force. They were nicknamed The Little Black Devils during the 1885 North-West
Rebellion by the defeated Métis resistance and they brought Louis Riel to Regina where he was tried and hanged for treason. So, when the troop train stopped in Fort William to pick up recruits from Northwestern Ontario, everyone was surprised to learn that one of Louis Riel’s relatives had joined the Little Black Devils. Patrick (Paddy) Riel became one of Canada’s top snipers.

On September 15, 1946, 21 young RCAF airmen returning to Estevan, SK in a Dakota (C-47) from Minot, ND crashed near the Estevan wartime airfield. All on board died in the crash; at the time it was the worst peacetime aviation accident in RCAF history. On July 7–9, 2022, a committee of members worked together to create a weekend in Estevan, SK to dedicate, remember, and celebrate these 21 airmen.
