Death is inevitable and is a part of our human experience. Although there is no definitive answer to what happens when we die; religion, spirituality and culture impact the way we interact with and understand death as a part of life. Through the lives and stories of people who work with death daily, Memento Mori explores the intricacies of dying, views on the afterlife, grief, what is and is not considered fair and unpacks the reasons why humans often avoid talking about death.

While he spends his days as a mall janitor, Paco’s been trying to go back to school for Engineering. His older Filipino coworker, Jaime, doesn’t think much of him. All Paco has to do is pay tuition when his wife calls him, asking for more money for their kid’s birthday. Paco decides to earn money for both.
