DARUKHANA DARUKHANA IS SUPPORTING A LOCAL SHIP BREAKING INDUSTRY IN THE HEART OF TEEMING CITY. THE SHIP BREAKING INDUSTRY IS KNOWN FOR HAZARDS BOTH TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE WORKERS. IT REQUIRES CLOSE REGULATIvON TO PREVENT POLLUTION FROM TOXIC WASTES AND OIL CONCERNS OF ITS WORKERS WHO WORK WITHOUT HELMETS, SAFETY HARNESSES OR EYE PROTECTORS. SHIPBREAKING IS UNSUITABLE AS A MEANS OF EMPLOYMENT IN A CITY. THIS AREA REPRESENTS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO USE THE VALUABLE WATER FRONT FOR THE RECREATION AND WELLNESS OF CITIZENS. THE SITE IS LOCATED AT THE BEAUTIFUL BACKWATERS OF ALLEPPEY. ALLEPPEY PRIMARILY KNOWN FOR ITS SPICES AND COCONUT PRODUCTS IS ALSO A MAJOR TOURIST ATTRACTION. THE SITE PROVIDES A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE VEMBANAND LAKE AND VADAI CANAL. SECTION C-C’

THE REGENERATION SEEKS TO EXPLORE THE POWER OF RIDGES AND VALLEYS IN ITS CAPACITY TO INFLUENCE BOTH THE DESIGN PROCESS AS WELL AS THE LANDSCAPE CHANGE BY UTILISING THE FLUCTUATIONS IN THE WESTERN GHATS. NUMEROUS LAYERS OF FRACTAL GEOMETRY AND NEUROLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS ARE ADDED TO THE DESIGN PROCESS.THE DESIGN AIMS TO CREATE MULTIPLE VISUAL AND INDESPENSIBLE EXPERIENCE OF SENSES.

ARCHITECTURE - HOUSE - PRIVATE HOME PROJECT COMPLETION DATE : OCTOBER 2018 BUILT UP AREA : 600 SQ.M PLOT AREA : 1236 SQ.M PHOTOGRAPHY CREDITS : PANCHKON HIVE IS CONCEIVED AND DESIGNED AS AN INTELLIGENT, ADAPTABLE AND SUSTAINABLE FAMILY HOME AT SURAT, GUJARAT. OUR ASPIRATION FOR THIS HOUSE WAS TO CREATE A BUILDING WHICH STRIVES TO BE AT ITS OPTIMUM REGARDLESS OF EXTERNAL CONDITIONS, TIME AND DAY OF THE YEAR. AN IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, SOLAR RADIATION, CLOUD COVER AND WIND PATTERN MOULDS THE FORM OF THE RESIDENCE. THE DATA OUTPUT HELPED US IN TAKING INFORMED DECISION TO DESIGN EXTERNAL KINETIC FACADE WHICH BECOMES PROTECTIVE LAYER FROM HARSH SOLAR RADIATION. THE FACADE GEOMETRY IS INSPIRED FROM THE HEXAGONAL PATTERNS EXHIBITED IN NATURE SUCH AS HONEYCOMB, DIAMONDS AND FLOWERS. ANALYZED AS PER THE STRUCTURE, FUNCTION AND MECHANISM, ITS DESIGN IS BASED ON STRUCTURAL STRENGTH, TRANSFORMABILITY AND BIO MIMICRY. THE UNIQUE OPENING MECHANISM OF THE FACADE POSITIONS AS PER THE REQUIREMENTS OF QUALITY OF LIGHT EXPOSURE AND THERMAL COMFORT LEVELS INSIDE THE HOUSE.

VIT BAMBOO WORKSHOP VELLORE

PROCESS


AFTER A LOT OF EXPERIMENTATION, FINAL ANGLE WAS FIXED. THE IDEA WAS TO ADD TWO STRUTS TO MAKE THE FRACTAL STABLE WITH FIXED ANGLES. THE EQUILATERAL TRAINGLE IN THE FRACTAL IS USED TO CONNECT TO OTHER EUILATERAL TRAINGLE OF THE OTHER FRACTAL UNIT. A FRACTAL UNIT HAS TWO ACTIVE TRIANGLES AND ONE PASSIVE TETRAHEDRON. THE PASSIVE TETRAHEDRON HOLDS THE UNIT TOGETHER WHILE THE ACTIVE TETRAHEDRON PROVIDES THE FACES FOR THE FORM TO GROW.
