INTRODUCTION To Suburb

PROPOSING There is a empty plaza in North Adelaide. It is located on the main road (connecting city and suburb), so the specific function of the building needs further analysis and investigation. This booklet is related to the investigation of the commercial constructions in its potentional development in North Adelaide.

The North Adelaide Institute and Post Office was constructed in 1883-4 as part of a larger integrated building.The post office has also played a prominent role in the affairs of North Adelaide and was one of a number of significant public buildings and structures erected in this period of prosperity and confidence in North Adelaide.

Sir William Lawrence Bragg was an Australian-born British physicist a n d X- r a y c r y s t a l l o g r a p h e r, discoverer (1912) of Bragg's law of X-ray diffraction, which is basic for the determination of crystal structure. As of 2020, he is the youngest ever Nobel laureate in physics, having received the award at the age of 25 years.

The cathedral, a significant Adelaide landmark.Records show that the first service was held on St Peter's Day 1876, though the building was incomplete. Construction of tSt Peter's Cathedral stretched out over decades, and the building was not formally dedicated until after 1904.


LOCATION & CLIMATE Adelaide is the capital city of the state of South Australia, and the fifth-most populous city of Australia. North Adelaide is situated on the Adelaide Plains north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St Vincent in the west and the Mount Lofty Ranges in the east. Adelaide has a mediterranean climate. The city has hot, dry summers and cool winters with moderate rainfall. Most precipitation falls in the winter months. Adelaide is a windy city with significant wind chill in winter, which makes the temperature seem colder than it actually is.

CONCLUSION & REFERENCES According to the analysis, the site is located on the main area of the government's business district planning. The terrain is flat and the weather is suitable. In addition, it has strong artistic atmosphere, various historical buildings and cultural heritage. As far as the environment is concerned, the road planning is simple, the transportation is convenient, and it is connected with the popular attractions. In conclusion, the site has great development potential in commercial buildings.
