BATHE NATURE FROM THE TOP "Hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot springs – spa culture takes on various forms throughout the world, and learning to relax like a local is a top attraction in many destinations. It is a unique but time-tested approach for pain relief as well as a chief method of boosting wellness and reducing stress. Bathhouses serve as a gathering place, an invitation to connect in a setting where sensual absorbtion replaces small talk. Also addresses cultural contrasts masterfully between the straight lines of the architecture and the movement of water, or between the gray of the rocks and the play of light and colors."

SITE ANALYSIS

CURRENT SITUATION AND PROBLEMS

Location: St Mary's Complex, Waverley St, Bootle L20 4AP. ‘Historically part of Lancashire, Bootle's proximity to the River Mersey and the industrial city of Liverpool to the south saw it grow rapidly in the 1800s, first as a dormitory town for wealthy merchants, and then as a centre of commerce and industry in its own right following the arrival of the railway and the expansion of the docks and shipping industries. Post-war economic success in the 1950s and 1960s gave way to a downturn, precipitated by a reduction in the significance of Liverpool Docks internationally, and changing levels of industrialisation, coupled with the development of modern suburbs and the expansion of industries into the Merseyside hinterlands. ’

By adding tree and grass natural elements into the overall architectural design, the natural atmosphere of the building is increased and the surrounding environment characteristics are integrated, so that people can feel the unique breath of nature during the bathing process. Considering the abundance of natural light, three different forms of light are introduced into different functional spaces. Each space overlaps each other while maintaining its independence, so that people in different positions can observe each other's activities. Since the site is distributed around the canal, using river water as the main water supply system for water circulation can reduce waste and loss. The underground water pipe introduces river water through filtering to heat or cool water for baths. The underground water storage device can collect rainwater and water the lawn. 07

A MUITICUITURAL MUSIC SCHOOL “The music school, which integrates residences, practice rooms, main recital hall, and community activity center, is located next to the beautiful and solemn church, integrating multicultural elements to serve different groups of people to meet different needs. The unique space establishment responds to the needs of different groups of people, while being independent and at the same time integrating with each other so that people can travel through it and feel different charms.”

SITE ANALYSIS

Location: 3 Berkley St, Liverpool L8 1XB. The site is located at the junction of Berkeley Street and Upper Stanhope Street, close to the 150-year-old Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, with a calm and solemn atmosphere. There are many ethnic minority residential areas and retail shops nearby, and it is about a 15-minute drive from Liverpool city centre.

CURRENT SITUATION AND PROBLEMS Even if there is a community activity center around the site, there is no open space for residents. Most of the local residents are Arab and have ethnic minority specialty shops. The church, as a sacred place, needs to be respected and not disturbed. The music school and Residential buildings need to have their own private spaces, but they also need to be integrated, and they need to attract tourists to come and visit.

STRATEGIES AND SOLUTIONS The combination of music school and residence is provided for students who come to practice, and the practice room is convenient for short rest and communication. The exterior stepped concert hall attracts tourists to shuttle through it to increase local economic income. In order to integrate Arab culture with local residents' lives, it provides corresponding open community public activity space, and at the same time, it faces the practice outdoor facade of the church. Make grooming to show respect. The residential area echoes the surrounding residential buildings so that the height is controlled below the height of the church and is not eye-catching. As the core part, the atrium connects all spaces with different functions. The folded stairs echo each other to form a gallery bridge in the air for people to walk to different floors, making people You can enjoy the natural beauty of the plants in the atrium in any space. 16

THE EXHIBITION IN TOXTETH RESERVOIR “According to the original geographical location of the reservoir with a long history, the original location of the reservoir is transformed, and the design with the nature of exhibition is introduced. The combination of the original internal structure and the external innovative glass curtain wall reflects the integration of the new and the old. It satisfies the different needs of local culture, social status, population distribution, etc., and reasonably becomes a compelling new scenery.”

The site is located near the residential cultural and commercial center on a higher ground. It was used as a water storage device and was abandoned in history. There are a large number of iron load-bearing columns inside to support the arched roof. The power tower is the most iconic and loved by local residents. Hope to re-use this place.

According to the different spatial forms of water, the ice cube represents the glass box space with different functions, which is the space of the market, catering, sightseeing tower, and main entrance. The columnar water represents the glass pipe which has the functions of exhibition, transportation and lighting.Spaces with different functions are set up according to the needs of different groups of people. The exhibits are placed in the central vertical glass pipe for everyone to enjoy.Transparent glass reflects the permeability of water, and the effect of adding water lines on the glass surface can better reflect the fluidity of water. 27

VIBRANT BOX HOUSE FOR THE ELDERLY “Based on the social status of the elderly people, the prefabricated box-type housing model provides diversified residential units, accompanied by public dining areas and entertainment areas to meet the needs of different groups of people. In different unit modules, rooms with different functions such as bedrooms, kitchens, classrooms, emergency centers, gardens, and public activity areas are set up, and the passages throughout the building guide the flow of people in all directions. Taking into account the special characteristics of the crowd, the ramp and the circular flat walkway are arranged in it, and the introduction of professional nursing staff and visitors can participate in it.”

BACKGROUND Difficulties faced by the elderly

Ageism and a lost sense of purpose There are many stereotypes in the thinking of the elderly, which may lead to the isolation of many community activities and the performance of life marginalization.

Difficulty with everyday tasks and mobility Due to the decline in mobility and agility of the elderly, this prevents them from being u n a b l e t o s o c i a l i z e n o r m a l l y, p u r s u i n g interests or participating in activities they like.

Finding the right care provision When complete independence is no longer feasible, the elderly need additional professional nursing care, and caregivers need to obtain the necessary training and emotional support to help them provide the best care.

Brain Health

End of life preparations

Alzheimer's disease accounts for 33% of people over 85 years of age. Early prediction and diagnosis can optimize cognitive adaptability, slow down cognitive decline and support nursing staff.

The end of life of the elderly will have financial implications and support is needed to ensure that their wishes are respected.
