Brief Summary

Since 1977, T.H.E. Inc. has been providing the Middle East region with professional services in the fields of architecture, planning and civil engineering. The objectives of the firm were broadened to provide high standards of A&E services, and state-of-the-art research in planning and architecture to both the United States and the Middle East markets.

T.H.E. Inc. accommodates wide and diverse clientele base in Egypt, the Middle East, and in the United States of America including public agencies, governmental bodies, development companies, private business, and individuals to encompass and manifest their entire projects objectives.

To facilitate our Gulf operations, in 2007 we established our subsidiary office in Doha, Qatar and licensed grade A architetural and engineering office.

T.H.E Inc. has been awarded many honors and certifications for broadly deployed practice at United States, Egypt and the Middle East throughout the past 40 years. Furthermore, the principals are involved, being a part of every public realm, engineering and architectural societies, and accreditation bodies.

In 2002 T.H.E. has been considered as one of few “House of Experts” in Egypt that incorporate all aspects of engineering consultancy.

OUR FOUNDERS EXPERIENCE

A principal and founder of T.H.E, he established the firm in Cairo after receiving his degree in Architecture from Cairo University in 1977. First fulfillment of the Master Degree in City Planning equivalent to Diploma in City Planning from the Faculty of Engineering, department of Architecture in 1979 – 1981. Coping professional practice with academic study during his early years in Egypt till he moved with his brother Hisham to the USA to get their doctorates in Urban and Regional Planning, from University of Southern California in 1988.

At research field, he held many studies and many positions at University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA, Having achieved genuine research in planning and academic study didn’t stop his aspiration. In 1987, he started a branch office in Los Angeles to enlarge T.H.E scope of professional practice.

A principal and founder of T.H.E, he graduated from Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering, Architectural Department, in 1977. First fulfillment of the Master Degree in City Planning equivalent to Diploma in City Planning from the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture in 1979-1981.

Dr. Hisham Fathy has a profound interest in arts and design. He has broadened his knowledge by independent research and formal studies by which he earned his doctorate in Planning from school of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Southern California in 1988. His academic and research experience is in the fields of Public Policy Evaluation, Planning Theory, and Islamic City. He wrote his dissertation on “The Social Reality Approach to Planning: Application to Islam”. In these issues he has lectured and taught in several American Universities.

A principal of T.H.E; Head of Structural, Civil and Site Supervision Department. He gained his experience in supervising significant projects in the Egyptian army, and through joining several consultancy firms in the first four years of his career. He acquired a unique experience by joining the design department of “Betchel Overseas Cooperation” (Shobra Al-Khima Power Plant). He worked as a senior structural engineer in Misr Consulting Engineers for many projects in 1981 – 1986. In addition to his major participation in designing a number of major projects in Egypt, also earned specialized expertise while he was employed at “Dorsch Consultant”, he contributed to the design of “Helwan Sewer Plant”.

This experience was coupled with advanced diplomas in projects management and environmental engineering from the American University in Cairo in 1990.

Shifaa Al Orman Hospital is the fruit of the cooperation between Shifaa Charity Foundation and the Orman Charity Association, uniting on their principle of providing free cancer treatment to sufferers in Upper Egypt.

Shifaa Al Orman Hospital was established in Luxor as it is the only governorate without a facility, providing cancer treatment. Today, Shifaa Al Orman Hospital opens its doors to cancer sufferers in Luxor and in the surrounding governorates.

CHG wanted to create a new image for Nile Badrawi Hospital, established in 1985, as it is one of Cairo’s betterrecognized tertiary hospitals. It is a leading healthcare service provider for the private sector. It is located in the affluent district of Maadi, in the south side of Cairo.

The hospital facility is a 13-floor building with 139 beds, 4 operating rooms, a radiology department, laboratory, and oncology center.

Nile Badrawi Hospital is home to three center of excellences focused on oncology, spinal surgery, and renal transplants. The hospital also specializes in complex treatments such as in vitro fertilization, neonatal care, open-heart surgery, and cardiac catheterizations, in addition to providing all other major specialties. It was also one of the first hospitals in Egypt to offer radiotherapy, and its oncology department is equipped with two linear accelerators.

In operation for over 30 years, Cairo Medical Center is one of Egypt’s largest private hospitals. Located in Heliopolis (Roxy sq.), in the heart of Cairo and easily accessible from other parts of the country, the hospital provides a range of diagnostics and treatments.

CHG wanted to create a new image for CMC Hospital. It is 15,000 m2 purpose-built facility including cardiac catheter, cardiac investigation, endoscopy, physiotherapy, dental clinic, lab, imaging center and others.

The hospital has 200 licensed beds, 9 operating rooms (including one dedicated open heart operation room), over 20 outpatient consultation rooms.

57357 Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in the world, specialized in children’s cancer treatment. With 320 beds, the building is the largest pediatric oncology hospital in the world.

The hospital treats nearly half of all pediatric cancer cases in Egypt.[5] Within the grounds there are playrooms, a library and a 90,000 square feet (8,400 m2) park.

The project was funded entirely by donations, including through many small donations and with 90% of the total coming from within Egypt. It works on an “ability-to-pay” basis.

Smouha Maternity University Hospital is a part of the Alexandria Hospitals PPP. Briefed accommodation includes Casuality, Radiology and Outpatient Departments plus Nursing Units, providing over 200 in-patient beds.

The site is situated north-west of the center of Alexandria. It is surrounded by the existing university facilities. The Mowassat Hospital will gain a 223-bed specialized care wing.

The design of the project was developed in colloboration with Keppie Design (UK).

The campus master plan was designed to mirror the university’s envisioned role as an “artery of knowledge” located right in the heart of Upper Egypt. This 3-phased EGP 550 Million campus also features key characteristics that help foster a sense of belonging to Deraya University’s community.

Deraya’s master plan was conceived to promote a collaborative learning environment and to emphasize the university’s importance to Upper Egypt. Deraya is therefore modeled after the ubiquitous Nile River, the country’s “artery of life”. Deraya’s design allows it to draw on this powerful Nile connection and deliver an equally commanding message positioning itself as the region’s “artery of knowledge”.

West Campus of American International School was established in 2009. It is a full primary, preparatory and secondly school with American curricular and environment. This attractive new campus is located in a peaceful suburban setting about 20 km from Cairo center, in Sheikh Zayed, in Greens compound, a prestigious residential community on the western side of the River Nile.

AIS West Campus serves families in the surrounding neighborhoods, including Mohandessin and Zamalek. As one of Cairo’s leading international schools, it serves a multicultural community with both Egyptian and international influences.

The school has grown steadily to encompass around 1500 students.

In continuation of upgrading and renovating valuable buildings; Egyptian Ministry of foreign affairs trusted our firm to undergo the process of redesigning the Diplomatic River Club. The Project is a riverside luxury private club, used in ceremonies and banqueting of foreign and Egyptian diplomats.

Complying with owner’s demands, we created an integrated luxurious facility, equipped with all needed elements to provide kitchen facility, capable of serving meals to approx. 200 persons per meal, M.P.U Hall of 150 persons, restaurant of 60 - 80 persons.

The view potentialities implied the creation of leveled terraces, all enjoying the view and adding a new visual and spatial extension to closed spaces.

Buildings evaluated by this study comprised all buildings fully owned by the company; either existing structures, under construction or subject to retrofitting and upgrade. The factory for dairy products and juice processing made a substantial part of this evaluation task.

Evaluation included the existing Utility networks (Water treatment plants, drainage network, road network, fences and gates).

Siemens has secured a contract from state-run Egyptian National Railways (ENR) to modernize 260km of railway networks in Egypt with advanced technology for signaling, level-crossings and communications.

Upgrades are part of a national strategic plan to develop and modernize the Egyptian railway system and are expected to improve safety standards.

The modernization was implemented on rail corridors between Benha and Port Said to the northeast and Zagazig and Abu Kebir north of Cairo. These routes will see their mechanical interlocking systems replaced with electronic systems that can be centrally controlled.

Due to its significance, aims to build on an empty site by the Nile and next to Youssef El-Gendi’s historical villa.

The project starts by analyzing the site extensively from macroscale to microscale analysis in order to understand the site’s constraints, limitations and the possibilities. From this analysis, the methodology was formalized in order to come up with three design alternatives, where they were combined to form the best design alternative to reach the maximum built-up area in the given footprint.

This significant project represents a massive landscape output which is a part of the urban project known as Qasr Khozam. The goal of this project was to represent the movement of the residents to explore the entire project with the help of a path or guide in terms of architectural and landscape design. Several elements were incorporated into the design such as pedestrian bridge for circulation and bike movements whilst maintaining existing parts on the original land such as the water tower which was developed to show the culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Pioneering waterfront landscaping, with an iconic two kilometre long river, it is reminiscent of the beauty of Venice and the charm of Amsterdam.

THE was appointed to regenerate Rawdat Al Khail Park to meet the needs of the 21st century, while revealing its historic character and landscape structure to make it a place of great culture, nature, beauty and pride, balancing the needs of the present generation. Sporting facilities, a café, and a children’s playground were added as a part of the redesign.

October Landscape stretches over a total area of 20 acres. This is a great spot for families with a huge range of children’s activities and fun for all ages. The main landmark of the Six of October City, Egypt is Al-Hosary Islamic Complex, which consists of a Mosque, an Orphanage and an Azhari Institute. The mosque is built in a famous square in the city. The mosque serves for praying and multi-function scholarly ceremonies, a library and several multifunction halls.

The mosque is considered the largest and the most elegant in the city of 6th of October.
