More than two thousand school children from all over the Island participated in the nineteenth IES Yaiza Triathlon, held on the 29th November, in which Bradley and Summer Ibrahim came out winners of the trial. At about half past ten in the morning, a cloud of arms and foam flooded the waters of Puerto Calero as the swimmers set out, in three separate groups. The first out of the water in the individual male category was Jesús Gómez, who covered the 500 meters in a time of 00:5:37 seconds, followed by Bradley Ibrahim, just 3 seconds behind. Barely breaking into a pant, they arrived at the bicycle park, located in the hotel Hesperia, and from there headed towards the school across a circuit with small but quite stony slopes, forcing many cyclists off their bikes to balance themselves with their feet. Bradley Ibrahim, from IES Haría, did not disappoint those who tipped him the main favourite, and in spite of getting into a nice struggle in the bike section with Alexis Gaziello from the Arenas International School, he managed to enter first on campus with a total time of 00:41:21. Alexis Gaziello (00:48: 34) took second place and Francisco Betancort Martín (00:49: 34), from IES Las Salinas took the final podium spot. In the women’s category the winner was Summer Ibrahim (0:55:18), from IES Haría, followed by last year’s winner, Manuela Déniz Ferrer (0:56:48), from IES Playa Honda, and Elizabeth Perdomo (0:59:49), from IES Yaiza. IES Arrecife, in the male category, and IES Costa Teguise, in the female category, won in the teams categories.
