Project Abstract George Lakoff and Mark Johnson wrote a book, Metaphors We Live By. In the book they stated that metaphor, conceptual and blending are guiding principles of the meaning of construction. Metaphor is considered a fundamental cognitive process, which people use to conceptualize their experience and the external world. In my thesis I am proposing to use metaphor as a guide in my project. The Chinatown home is located in lower Manhattan, in New York. This facility should balance between culture needs and basic functions of a nursing home. This essential balance is achieved through the use of metaphor. Firstly, the Asian home will offer nursing home services for senior citizens, especially for the people whose families work or live near Chinatown. The Asian home for seniors will fill an unact need for senior care in Manhattan.

DELIRIOUS MANHATTAN A mythical island where the invention and testing of a metropolitan lifestyle and its attendant architecture could be pursued as a collective experiment in which the entire city became a factory of manmade experience, where the real and the natural ceased to exist. -----------Rem Koolhaas
