Comedy [kom-i-dee]: Professional entertainment consisting of jokes and satirical sketches, intended to make an audience laugh*. It would almost be expected to see the image of Kako Bourjolly within the pages of a dictionary under this definition. Like most talented comedians, Kako captures the very essence of this word. He is comedy itself, as the flowing energies from within him pour onto his audience, which later has them twisting in laughter.

WORDS FROM THE EDITORS

EDITORIAL

Naturally, most people crave peace in their lives yet they lack the motivation to make it happen. I create peace through my imagination, as I believe the most imperative step to create anything is to visualize it. It doesn’t matter whether it’s composing a piece of poetry, painting, scoring a perfect soccer goal, or designing the plan of a new house, there must be desire in order to achieve it. The stimulating thing about visions and dreams is that they lay a foundation for us to become what we aspire and to create what we envision while simultaneously allowing us to focus our attention on what we need.

A LABOR OF LOVE I just NOW noticed that you did not put my correct editorial in the layout. I sent it to you and if you check your mail you will notice that the last editorial I sent you is not the one in the layout. Please replace it for me. Thank you very much. When I was proposed to jump on board Pluriel Magazine’s re-launch, I embarked without hesitation on what I now consider a true labor of love! Since a very young age, writing has always come easily to me. Time stops when writing creatively, nothing else seems to matter, and I suddenly slumber into a zone where my creative juices flow causing both my mind and soul to submerge and unite in pure bliss. In the summer of 2001, I left Haiti to pursue my education. After a decade away from my motherland, relevant work experiences and multiple travels around the world, I moved back in 2011 to start a “new life” and chase my quest for self-fulfillment and stability. I have a vision for my country and with this responsibility I finally have a chance to take steps towards it.

For years now, I have been using this visualization technique with positive results. It’s even amazing at times what a tiny vision can bring. I am inviting you to create your own window of what it would look like, feel like and be like for you to have peace in your country. It is not about my outlook but about co-creating a mental picture as we bring peace to our lives. Putting a magazine together is no easy task! We have encountered many challenges and obstacles along the way but that’s what keeps us motivated. Between our endless days, sleepless nights, editing, rewriting, emails, phone calls, new ideas, bold photo shoots, striking interviews, meetings left and right, it has been a Fun Ride to say the least. Walter Bagehot once said that “The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do”. I live and breathe by this saying and my promise to YOU, readers and sponsors, is to ensure your entertainment through informative, well-thought out, provocative, yet well-balanced content that will encourage us to play a proactive role within our societies. Through this new generation of Pluriel, let us create a vision of peace for Haiti!
