Introduction This art journal is based on the artworks I did for Digital illustration subject this semester. Since it was a short semester we were given a total of 3 assignments. My digital art journey has been a rough one. I started to draw digitally for the first time ever. That too for this subject. Never knew I would be able to do this actually. Stepped out from my comfort zone for this one, I had to give it a go. I faced a lot of difficulties while drawing. Everything was new to me. Overall it was a very challenging experience. But I was able to show my full potential. All the assignments were done on my ipad using an app called procreate. Let me walk you through my journey.
ASSIGNMENT 1 Since this was the very first assignment that introduced me to digital drawing tools I had thought of choosing a concept that would be a combination of fairly easy and challenging at the same time.
concept My concept to this assignment was about a girl who dreamt on being a competitive figure skater,
However, following a traumatic
head injury that had occured during one of her state finals, she had been struggling to get back
on track and regain her footing
on the ice. Lost in her emotional
thoughts and self sabotage a portal envails as a hope to possibly rise again.
Did some research on how
human figure drawings are drawn. And after that I started off with this as an initial sketch for my drawing.
Filled in colors and shaded where necessary within the guideline.

ASSIGNMENT 2 Figurative Gestural Drama In this assignment we were to choose between concepts of The
Globe, The Brawl and The Well, and initially create our own
concept for any one of these given sample for our illustration. We had to Propose a storyline based on the incident. And had to choose at least 3 figures minimum in our composition.
I chose the brawl concept and gave my own twist to it. After debating on a lot of ideas and mind mapping, I decided to go with a Marvel fight between Iron man and Spiderman.

ASSIGNMENT 3 Art Nouveau
Art Nouveau is an international style of art that was most popular between 1890 and 1910. It was inspired by natural forms and structures, particularly the curved lines of plants and flowers. Since our third assignment was based on art nouveau. I did my research for this pretty early ahead. As this was much easier for me to draw. I didnt want to create the original art nouveau. Instead I decided to give it a modern twist and approach in a more realistic way.

decided to do my Art

From runway model to A-list actress
Ever since Netflix’s newest hit Squid Game became the No 1 show in 90 countries, the model-turned-actress has skyrocketed to global fame. She has a lot of well known labels signed up and is an ambassador for lot of brands.
The photo reference I decided to use in my artwork
At this point , after web browsing a lot. I got a hang of how to easily draw portraits. I put on the base color where each of the features were. This is how I started my assignment.
Slowly added the definitions to the face and put some highlights to the hair. At this point you can see that even though there isnt much changes , it already has made a difference to the initial base layer.
H e r e y o u ca n s e e m y portrait almost done. It was a struggle making it look as realistic as possible. The highlights on the face and hair made the job done. Im proud of the result I was able to bring forward. And next on to the flowers in Art Nouveau. I decided to add craftsy and artistic flowers instead of real flowers for more define background, keeping the portrait as the highlight of the drawing. In order to keep the drawing on the same tone, I have used a flower with different shades of pink.
After adding the signature art nouveau border At first I went on with a dark border for the artwork. But it was a little too dull. So I used glow brush to really pop out the border. I really wanted to keep the spotlight on the portrait and this is the final outcome.
It came down to the last step. The typeface lAYOUT Since HoYeon Jung is known in the modeling industry and has been the face of well known brands, I decide to make this poster
as a fragnance poster. Used one of the most famous female
fragnance brand Dior and their latest perfume Miss Dior.
Cropped out the original image of the bottle from internet and re drew the original logo of Dior by myself on Adobe Illustrator. I
enjoyed drawing this assignment the most, and am most satisfied with the outcome of this one.

Conclusion Thank you for following through my artwork progressions and the effective usage of the new medium and tools. Overall, I am satisfied and content with the growth I was able to show progressively throughout my artworks. I am glad that I took you on this journey of mine, and hopefully this experience would lead me to become a better graphic illustrator in the near future.
