Robert Reich & Michael Krasny A Forum for the Common Good

Our annual fundraiser features KQED’s FORUM talk show host Michael Krasny in conversation with Robert Reich. Krasny’s award winning program discusses news, public affairs, current events, culture, health, business and technology. He was recently inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2017. Krasny has brought us some amazing authors for this event including Michael Pollan, Alice Walker, Bud Trillin, Khaled Hosseini, Piper Kerman, and Amy Tan. This year will be an amazing one! Robert Reich who is Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He served as Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, for which Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century. Reich’s newest book is “The Common Good.” Tickets available at seb.org. This event sells out fast so get your tickets NOW!

Tour d’Organics Sunday, August 12th

The Tour d’Organics is the biggest fundraiser for the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center which serves the recreational, enrichment, and entertainment needs of West Sonoma County. This is a ride through a world-class cycling destination and your insider’s pass to Sonoma County! The Tour d’Organics gives you VIP access to some amazing organic finds in Sonoma County. It’s about exploring places you don’t get to see. Savor locally sourced fruit and produce in this destination bicycling event. There are 4 rides, so something for everyone. Family Fun Ride (16 miles), The Coaster (30 miles), The Explorer (Metric Century - 63 miles) and The Full Bounty (100 miles).

Culinary Arts

Ages: 10 – 14 This is a children’s introductory Culinary Arts Class. This class will teach you basic skills needed to understand food and the role it plays in your life. This class will also provide you with the basic fundamental skills and knowledge needed to progress to advanced culinary classes. In this course we will cover safety and sanitation requirements, nutrition, knife skills, equipment and ingredient identification, basic baking procedures, cooking methods, and much more! Lunch will be provided on cooking days. Ages: 7-12 One week of daring adventure, epic battles and the finest training in the kingdom of the noble art of sword and shield. Young squires learn the basics of movement and train for battle with their trusty foam sword. As they progress in skill throughout the week, they learn the use of shield and other foam weaponry while playing games and engaging in epic quests and battles. Ages: 10 – 14 En Garde Fencing brings the ancient art of dueling to the modern world. Meant for the beginning fencer, this fun and unique camp offers a solid foundation in the Olympic sport of fencing. All equipment is provided for free. Participants should bring snacks and water. This is the camp where rolling on the floor is acceptable, and climbing on the “furniture” is praised. For 4 days, the Center is turned into a tumbling, swinging, jumping, hanging, vaulting and bouncing funhouse. Your child will be immersed in gymnastics skills, innovative brain challenges, super-fun engaging games and crazy obstacle courses that will grow their skills and build their confidence. The gymnastics skills your child will learn are on bars, beams, floor exercise, vaulting, rings and mini-

trampolines. Children of all levels will have a great time! There will be outdoor fun and parachute games too! This camp promises to give every child a positive experience. Sebastopol skate camp is a skateboarding workshop that offers instruction on the fundamentals of skateboarding. Led by pro skate Instructor Tony Manfre, skaters will learn about skate safety, how to ride, and tricks from basic to advanced maneuvers. Each day offers skate lessons, contests with prizes and team building activities.
