2

We know how fire departments and rescue organisations work, because we are part of the same world. All of our fire-service experience and our many years of IT knowhow have gone into the EMEREC information management system – developed from practical experience for practical applications in collaboration with associations and organisations. The combination of mobile terminal devices with a central database and a link to the alarm or central command system is a key function of EMEREC. The trailblasing EMEREC system sustainably improves mobile operation management.

Support for operational units On site with up-to-date data

The crew has just been called out. The job now is to manage the operation in the best possible way. The key to trouble-free handling of an operation is the type, quality, availability and tie-in of the right information: with the incident managers and all participating operational units. If comprehensive access to information is available at the right time, it is possible to optimise operational procedures to save lives and protect property. Rosenbauer’s state-of-art information management system, EMEREC, merges analog and digital data and maps the data to procedures during the operation. EMEREC gives every operational unit online access to bundled and filtered information, any time and anywhere.

EMEREC gives you a solution today, that • merges comprehensive and up-to-date information from a variety of data sources, i.e. Communication Centres, GIS, Weather, Information Resource and HR Systems • provides that information directly at the operation scene thanks to state-of-art telecommunications solutions • reduces that information to crucial key data thanks to intelligent filtering methods • distributes the information seamlessly to other operational units to facilitate collaboration, such as Operations and Communication Centres, Mobile Command Vehicles, Incident Management Teams

EMEREC gives you all the information you need from a single source In the past, valuable time was lost during operations because data such as maps, fire protection plans, hazardous substance data sheets and much more was located in different places, and typically only available in hard copy. EMEREC puts an end to this. EMEREC collates digital data, standardises it, integrates independent sub-applications, and makes it available in a situationcentric way wherever it is needed – at the click of a button, on site, in real time.

Rosenbauer – EMEREC

This is how EMEREC works The combination of a mobile terminal device (EMEREC Pilot) with a central database (EMEREC Office) and a link to the alarm or operation coordination computer is the basis of the system. The incident manager receives all the information relevant to the operation via the mobile PC. User-friendly presentation of situation-specific content allows fast, intuitive use of the system. This means that information such as maps, plans, lists, data sheets, vehicle rescue sheets and available resources are visible from a single source. For efficient operations! EMEREC Pilot Is the sofware on mobile tablet computers with operationally relevent information that can be accessed directly on-site through a wide range of functions and applications. EMEREC Office Is the central adminstration and maintenance software. All system content in managed with this program, so that all information called uo on scene via EMEREC Pilot is always up to date. EMEREC Office can be installed on any Windows based PC or tablet.

Anytime, any place – access to situation-specific information EMEREC makes sure that you have a full set of operationspecific material with you at all times. Important situationspecific documents from your operational areas are built into this system and are always available in an up-to-date form, i.e. emergency management and building plans, water sources, operational checklists, and other documents. This reduces the number of folders with plans and documents you need to carry in your rescue vehicle. And if the operation becomes more widespread, you can use EMEREC to access more extensive scenario information.

4

Where? How? What? – EMEREC knows You can store more information – on buildings (companies, hospitals, care centres, traffic control centres), or other important facilities. General details and individual building/facility data are displayed on multiple levels. You can integrate waterway maps or overviews of vehicles and other rescue equipment. The integration of detailed GIS data (maps or aerial images) put you in a position to display weight or speed limits, or traffic messages in realtime.

Superior information saves time And time is precious in an emergency

Clear-cut information for targeted decisions is essential for trouble-free management of an operation. The incident manager becomes the manager of a variety of scenarios at fires, accidents and in disasters. The challenges are easier to manage if all the required information is available on site. The state-of-art EMEREC operation management system supports you in this. It networks data from a variety of sources and delivers them to the scene of the operation.

Built-in rescue information for vehicles gives you at-a-glance visibility. Australian version available. (Optional module)

Alarm data is accessible via EMEREC when the call is taken, with route navigation

Targeted researching of information on hazardous substances and materials directly at the scene of the operation.

Accessible on the spot

Your data is secure. Really secure

In case of fire, flooding or other disaster scenarios, precise weather data is required on site. Based on this information, the incident manager can plan the next steps and allocate resources to the best possible effect.

Data transmissions are handled by secure systems that comply with the most stringent standards. Access privi-leges – who sees what, and who is allowed to do what i.e. can be assigned individually.

Data from external sources? No problem

Backup copies of all the information you save are kept on redundant systems. Even if the online link fails, you will still have the most important information on site.

Interfaces to external information systems can be integrated in a project-specific way. They include operation management centres, alert systems, weather information, video systems, geographical information systems, power wiring diagrams, waterway level information, fire alarm systems, etc. There are no restrictions to the systems that you can integrate. 6

Know what is going on - on site From the outset At the start of an operation, this is what happens: An incident is reported. Operation headquarters has a huge amount of information. The incident controller has to quickly decide which data is relevant and in what format. He sets off, and is very much uncertain as to “what’s waiting around the corner”. You only discover the specifics of an operation on site. The incident manager always takes stock of the situation and decides on operation tactics and the equipment needed.

Mobility of knowledge, context-related collation of statisti-cal information (e.g. data on hazardous materials) and dynamic information (e.g. images from video systems), storage of this knowledge and a mobile exchange of infor-mation between participating units improve the operation situation right from when the incident is reported.

EMEREC structures and visualises the multifaceted information that is available. The system makes this information available to mobile units. As more and more operational information is collected during the operation, the data is compacted in an increasingly accurate way. EMEREC displays changes on the mobile terminal devices – but also for operation headquarters and other operational units.

Visibility over all activities. On site and at operation headquarters EMEREC’s ability to manage dynamic situation reports allows for a clear-cut presentation and display of the operational resources deployed at any time. Situation reports are synchronised on all PCs involved in the operation. And, if needed, operation headquarters are included in this.

Just follow your intuition The ergonomic design of the user interface supports intuitive use of the device and software. The training overhead is extremely low. The device can be booted automatically when an operation starts, to display operation-specific material without delay. Inquiries in databases are simple thanks to the comprehensive search function. Handle the follow-up during an operation Thanks to EMEREC operation-specific data, such as alert data, operation history, routes, use of resources and much more are logged. You can then use the stored information for reports, investigations or statistics after the operation. 9
