May at the Club Dear Mount Vernon Family, Yay - it’s May! We have lots of fun activities planned for you and your family this May. With weather warming up and more activities moving outdoors, our Friday night offerings will change slightly. So you like to play golf? Play 18 holes on June 10 (rescheduled from May 13), 1:30 pm at Applewood Golf Course for just $70 per person! Fee includes a cart, dinner at the Club and awards ceremony with prizes. Reserve now, spots will go fast at this price. All members are welcome for our unique monthly themed Cuban fusion dinner on May 13 with a Latin guitarist ($22) Invite your friends for Havana inspired cuisine and a Latin musician. Bring a cigar and enjoy it on our deck. Win prizes on the races at our Kentucky Derby Party, May 7 at 1:30 pm. Be sure to wear your prettiest or craziest Derby Hat. Prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding in both categories. Gentlemen - you are welcome to participate too - hats, white (wrinkled) suits, or Google it! $19.99 includes $100 in MVCC Bucks, race prizes, best and craziest hat, passed appetizers and a mint julep in a take home glass. On May 15th we introduce an exciting new brunch format - Marketplace style! Our new brunch will feature action stations set up throughout the Main Dining Room. Try our egg station where you may choose your favorite ingredients in a made to order omelet, or eggs of your choice. We are also bringing back a Mount Vernon tradition - Charlie’s Pancakes! Choose from chocolate chips, bananas, blueberries, strawberries and nuts, incorporated by our Chef of the Day within your own serving of silver dollar pancakes. Top them off with flavored syrups, warm butter or mounds of whipped cream! ($24.95). AND... beginning May 15, Sunday Brunch will include one Champagne or Mimosa. Relax to sounds of one of our favorite piano players in our main dining room. We will now feature our King Crab and Prime Rib buffet on the 6th and 20th of the month (1st and 3rd Fridays). MVCC’s first monthly off-site outdoor adventure is on Saturday, May 21 - Hiking on Horsethief Fall and Pancake Rock Trail with a scavenger hunt, followed by dinner at the Club. May at the Club LOOKOUT! for The Overlook Grill as the the pool opens Friday, May 27th at 4:00 pm. Pool members will love our new food and beverage menu featuring quick and popular items served in a casual environment. Come check out the fun and hang out on our 21 and over adult deck. Our tennis season will be in full swing (pun intended) by the first week of May, barring more snow. Tennis drills, in house tourneys, lessons, Men’s and Ladies nights and children’s camps will be offered by our new Tennis Director, Doug Kazarozian and his pros.
