// the words of october twenty-one two-thousand and eight. willem van lancker
this experiment was meant to examine and record events and experiences that are never typically recorded or remembered– a student’s saturday night bar crawl. this is by no means meant to condone binge drinking or any form of debauchery but rather to explore the interactions and events of the night out and how these experiences formed a narrative illustrating ideas of greater meaning than simply the surface topics of conversation. through this process i recorded everything for a five and a half hour period on a saturday night through audio recording, note taking and photography. by exploring these interactions I was able to draw connections between seemingly unrelated events to provide the reader with an in-depth illustration of my experience. this is footprint of these experiences, much the like twitter, flickr and facebook document an individual’s life. this narrative maps all of the information that is often lost in those outlets: the human interactions of the people documented in these situations we all now experience in our saturated media culture. 1
