The court was designed by sports information director Gene Cassell. The arena was built as part of the $8.4 million Kelsey H. and Edna B. Petro Allied Health Center, the largest building on campus covering more than 126,000 square feet. Lee Arena is named after former Washburn baseball coach and player Bob Lee and his wife, Sallee, to recognize their $250,000 donation.
