Facilitated by Wayne County RESA’s Literacy Coaching Consultants, this network is designed to offer opportunities for deep study of research-based practices using collaborative inquiry, common texts, and discussion of the Essential Coaching Practices for Literacy. Building and sustaining relationships between both teacher-coach and principal-coach roles, developing assessment literacy knowledge and skills, and promoting equity through coaching will be unpacked.

Readers at all levels require explicit instructional support to extract information from complex texts and to accelerate their reading skills. In addition, providing ample opportunities for adolescents to engage in social learning environments is foundational to the development of their literacy skills. This series is designed for secondary educators and involves unpacking strands of Scarborough’s Rope as they relate to close and critical reading, including language structures, verbal reasoning, and literacy knowledge.
