Hello from WRC! Please take a moment to look back over 2025 with us—a year marked by growth, faith and an unwavering commitment to the families we serve. Together with our supporters, partners and volunteers, the Women’s Resource Center expanded services, strengthened programs and continued to walk alongside parents with dignity, compassion, and practical support. From the Director’s Desk, Since joining the Women’s Resource Center in February, I have made it a personal priority to tell anyone who will listen about the impactful work happening at WRC. From conversations with Northwestern State University students on campus to meetings at the Capitol, I have shared the Center’s story through data, outcomes and real-life impact.

I have also had the privilege of testifying in a legislative hearing, advocating for the families we serve and the vital role the Center plays in strengthening our community. As we move into 2026, we will continue our mission to be a mission! Thank you all for praying for us, for supporting us and we thank you for joining in our endeavor to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

WRC designated as a Maternal Wellness Center by the Louisiana Department of Health This year marked an important milestone as the Women’s Resource Center formally became a designated Maternal Wellness Center. This designation affirms the comprehensive, wraparound support WRC provides to women and families—from education and counseling to care coordination and practical resources. As a Maternal Wellness Center, WRC is positioned to expand its impact, strengthen partnerships, and continue delivering high-quality, life-affirming services that support healthy mothers, healthy babies, and strong families.

Increased awareness of the Women’s Resource Center and growing community engagement were clearly reflected in this year’s participation data. WRC served over 250 distinct clients, including nearly 130 new clients, more than 120 returning clients, and recorded over 900 total visits throughout the year. These numbers demonstrate that not only our initial services, but also our ongoing educational classes, are valued assets that families continue to rely on as they grow and thrive.

Because of the increased number of clients and continued engagement, WRC developed the Rooted & Rising Educational Series to better meet the evolving needs of the families we serve. While our original educational opportunities primarily focused on the expectant mother, this expanded series reflects the realities families face after birth. Through four new classes, Rooted & Rising will now equip new mothers with practical knowledge and support from birth through 36 months, strengthening families during the critical early years of parenthood.

This year, the Women’s Resource Center was honored to receive a Leadership Award from Louisiana Right to Life, recognizing the Center’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and life-affirming service. This recognition reflects the dedication of WRC’s staff, board, volunteers, and community partners who faithfully serve families each day. The award affirms WRC’s role as a trusted leader in maternal and family support across our region.

Community partnerships and collaboration remained central to the Women’s Resource Center’s impact this year. Through strong relationships with local churches, civic organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and fellow nonprofits, WRC expanded its reach through health fairs, the highly successful Fill the Boutique Challenge, and participation in community-wide events such as the Back to School Bash, Witch Way to Main Street, and First Night Fest at Northwestern State University. Support from NSU students, who volunteered their time and talents throughout the year, strengthened daily operations and outreach efforts, while events such as the WRC Open House created meaningful opportunities for the community to engage directly with the mission. In partnership with Fountain of Life Church, WRC also supported Embrace Grace outreach, providing expectant and new mothers with consistent encouragement, connection, and faith-based support that reinforces WRC’s commitment to walking alongside families at every stage. As WRC’s presence at community events increased, we increasingly heard attendees share that they had heard about our “little Jesus” and were genuinely delighted to receive a “little” Jesus from our team—simple moments that reflected growing awareness, trust, and joy connected to the Center’s mission!

Looking ahead, the Women’s Resource Center is positioned for continued growth and expanded impact.

Plans for the coming year include the addition of a new ultrasound machine, enhancing the quality of care and services available to the families we serve. As a recipient of multiple grants and with continued community investment, WRC is strengthening its capacity to meet growing needs while remaining firmly rooted in its mission to support, educate, and empower families.
