Located in Cold Spring, NY along the Hudson River and overlooking the US Military Academy at West Point, the Haldane Central School District has a rich tradition and history associated with the region even before its founding as a school district one hundred ten years ago. James Haldane (1818-1887), a native of Cold Spring and founder of the West Point Foundry, bequeathed funds to build the original Haldane School. The Hudson Highlands played an important role in the Revolutionary War and American Civil War. The Haldane Central School District welcomes the Era of Deeper Learning as we implement our new Strategic Plan that fosters 21st Century Skills and Authentic Learning Opportunities. The Haldane Elementary/ Middle School program features two Makerspace Rooms, mobile, wireless computer lab and Library Media Center that support integration of technology, an extensive cultural arts program that enriches and supplements classroom instruction, and environmental studies that take advantage of the region’s historical, geographical and cultural resources. We provide a full-day Kindergarten, Academic Intervention Services through our Instructional Support Team, HELP Program (an after-school homework assistance program) and our ELL Program (English Language Learner) among other supportive programs. Our High School is the proud recipient of the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award. Haldane High School offers all students the opportunity to pursue vocational/technical education along with rigorous academic postsecondary opportunities. The High School offers AP Placement courses in Calculus, Statistics, World History, American History, Government & Politics, Biology, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, English Literature and English Composition. Students can earn college credit in high school through SUNY Albany, Dutchess Community College and Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA). The High School also participates in the International Virtual High School Learning Program. Extra-curricular and fine arts programs highlight our performing artists, writers and athletes who achieve at the top of their class.
