THIELERT ACQUIRED BY CHINESE OWNERS OF CIRRUS AND CONTINENTAL MOTORS The German aircraft engine manufacturer Thielert has been saved, five years after having filed for insolvency, insolvency administrator Dr Bruno M. Kübler ECI’s Dr. Bruno M. Kübler, Senior sold the civil Partner in Kanzlei Kübler. business operations to AVIC International, a state-owned Chinese aviation group. Thanks to the restructuring measures implemented during the insolvency period, all locations and jobs are maintained. AVIC International Holding Corporation, majority owned by stated-owned Chinese aviation group AVIC, acquired the assets of Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH via its newly established company "Technify Motors GmbH"; the company will continue to operate under this name in the future. By acquiring Thielert, AVIC pursues its strategy of driving the general aviation development in China. As a consequence of the nascent opening-up of low-altitude airspace for private air traffic, the local industry is about to boom. AVIC is taking over all production plants including the buildings. This also includes all patents and

UNLEADED FUELS FOR LYCOMING

Lycoming’s TEO-540-A1A engines will power the new Tecnam P2012 Traveller.

Lycoming Engines highlighted unleaded fuels for aviation at a press breakfast at the recent Oshkosh event. Lycoming has been at the forefront of activities related to the transition from 100LL to an aviation-grade unleaded alternative that provides similar performance.

HEADSETS

SENNHEISER INTRODUCE THE S1 NOISEGARD AND HMEC 26-2 Sennheiser continues to broaden its line of innovative aviation headsets with two new offerings. First off, the Sennheiser S1 NOISEGARD, which completes the S1 family along with the existing S1 DIGITAL and S1 PASSIVE models, Sennheiser S1 NOISEGARD provides an unprecedented level of noise protection, intelligibility and comfort in an economical package. Second, for commercial aviators, the HMEC 26-2 builds on the incredible legacy established by the HMEC 26 pilot's headset. It is well documented that pilots face the risk of hearing loss considering the constant high level of noise they are exposed to on a routine basis both due to high winds and roaring engines. Sennheiser takes this health risk very seriously and, with its patented NoiseGard(tm) / professional technology, has been at the leading edge in developing aviation headsets that provide optimal levels of hearing protection. With the S1 NOISEGARD, pilots can fly with the assurance that they will not be exposed to unsafe decibel levels in the cockpit, while

trademark rights. All of the development and production sites in Lichtenstein, Altenburg and Hamburg will be maintained and all 200 jobs at these sites remain intact. Other companies in the AVIC Group are Cirrus, an American manufacturer of small aircraft, and the US-based Continental Motors, a manufacturer of conventional gasoline piston aircraft engines. The acquisition of Thielert allows AVIC to also offer kerosene-powered aircraft piston engines in the future. These engines are believed to have substantial growth potential, particularly in the emerging markets and developing countries, as they can be run on kerosene, which is the cheap standard aviation jet fuel and is, unlike leaded aviation gasoline, widely available. The parties have agreed not to disclose details on the purchase price. Kübler expressed satisfaction that the purchase price adequately reflects the strategic enterprise value and the company's potential. During the trough of the crisis, unit sales and investor process regained momentum. "Patience and persistency of all stakeholders, especially the staff members, have been worth the effort," Kübler stressed. "The sale to the strong strategic investor AVIC means Thielert's prospects have brightened significantly again."  More information visit - www.kueblerlaw.com and www.thielert.com

The company continues to advocate a UL 100 solution to meet the needs of the installed base, ensure ongoing airworthiness and preserve the investment made by current general aviation owners. Concurrently, Lycoming has approved multiple fuel options, and with the release of Service Instruction SI-1070S added 23 engines to the list of models approved for use with UL 91 unleaded avgas, bringing the total to 63. Integrated Electronic Engine (iE2) family expansion – Building on the TEO-540 flying on the Lancair Evolution and more recently the Northrop Grumman Firebird, Lycoming has announced the TEO-540-A1A or “J-type” derivative of the company’s flagship development program. This turbocharged, multi-grade fuel engine is designed to provide an economical solution for short-distance, low-altitude and high-cycle flights common to FAR Part 135 operations. Two of these engines will power the Tecnam P2012 Traveller.

SKYDEMON’s 2.7 FOR iPAD, ANDROID AND PC

The HMEC 26-2, meanwhile, is the successor to the HMEC 26, Sennheiser's most popular headset for airline and business pilots ever. It has been improved to enhance wearing comfort, while increasing sound pressure levels and reducing handling noise and electronic interference from the aircraft. New features include a lengthened headband, an anthracite finish and new headband cushions, which are both softer and wider. With the HMEC 26-2, Sennheiser has also provided additional filtering and electronic noise reduction to mitigate the electrical interference that is sometimes experienced in commercial cockpits.
