The inquiry’s main finding was that “the current airspace design model, on all levels, is unfit for purpose.” It recommended radical changes in the government’s approach and the UK CAA’s policy objective, suggesting they adopt, or base their policy on, “safety, proportionality and need.” In particular it said the CAA should have a “ratchet down process” where it had the power to lower the class of controlled airspace or make airspace uncontrolled. It also recommended the CAA should have an independent review procedure, to be undertaken after the implementation of an airspace change after 12 months and 3 years of a proposal being implemented. EAA AirVenture “Oshkosh” Breaks Records Again Some facts about Oshkosh, which got off to a wet and windy start on 22 July. Ultimately, the show attendance would top 642,000, 6.8 percent above 2018’s record total.
