A Better Approach to Construction

CORPORATE

DIRTT History

I

n 2004 DIRTT began research and development to create a new way to build out space that would be better for our clients and better for the environment.

Doing It Right This Time by… • Building the ICE® software platform to ensure clear communications and custom results without human error. • Creating the ICEberg® database to give clients an apples-to-apples comparison of their project built conventionally and built with DIRTT. • Developing only non-generational solutions and integrating them with technology, base buildings and whatever comes next. • Partnering with the best dealerships in North America. • Nurturing relationships with our Clients based on service, advocacy and mutual success.

S

ince opening in 2005, DIRTT has gone from zero to over $100-million and opened two new manufacturing facilities in Georgia and Arizona. DIRTT acquired Spider

Manufacturing (prefab modular electrical manufacturer), Axios Agile Technology (prefab modular data manufacturer) and Wahu Caseworks (modular millwork).

EDUCATION

philosophy From the outset, DIRTT product design developed using three premises: 1. Focus must always be on providing sustainable solutions, either from a material or behavioral perspective. 2. The environment must be fully responsive to both aesthetic and functional needs, at point of creation and over time, without concern for compatibility. 3. Our work will never be done. At no point will the product cease to evolve.

A

dopting these simple directives drove the product solution to be indifferent to the future, to have radical aesthetic variability, and to continue to adapt

and evolve in response to market and end-user needs.

COMPATIBILITY

A

ll design activity focuses on interface between objects in the environment, much like behaviors found in LEGO™. Any two blocks in LEGO connect

because they have a standardized interface and are not concerned with what they connect to. Simple; but critical.

F

undamentally, as soon as an object cares about what it connects to its future use is greatly limited. The goal of creating sustainable environments demands

that whatever we create cannot be concerned about what’s coming next.

This approach assures not only compatibility over time, but the ability to evolve the environment significantly without concern as well.

Does the conventional process address your needs? • Inefficiencies • Linear schedule • Disruption • Waste • Expensive disposal

D

IRTT is based on making the right environmental choices. Not just within our company but as a choice for our clients and how they wish to continue doing

business in a world where resources are limited and the environment is stretched.

B

y choosing to build-out your interior with DIRTT Agile Architectural Solutions you are changing your physical space from an overhead cost to a dynamic part

of your business strategy. Simultaneously it propels the most important approaches to environmental sustainability: Reducing and Reusing. You will reduce material waste by having your interior elements built in a factory to the exact size you need, rather than bringing in raw materials and cutting them down to size. You will reduce the amount of transportation pollution and energy needed for a conventionally built space because the schedule is shorter and fewer trades are required. DIRTT offers the opportunity to source your glass locally to further save on transportation and support your local businesses. Of course, your entire project is also agile, so you can reuse everything to suit your changing business needs over and over for a long lifecycle.

technology

S

pider creates pre-manufactured modular and conventional power solutions. They are scalable to your needs and flexible for changing business strategies.

Spider’s plug & play modular solutions bring you an important environmentally sustainable solution for your real estate’s wiring while being suitable for any office power requirement.

S

tart with clean, smart integration either inside the Walls or hanging from them. Monitors, CPUs, speakers, MP3 docks, USB ports, security readers… DIRTT Walls

not only support these elements and their accompanying cabling, but they keep them secure while ensuring their accessibility for the right teams.

T

he parametric nature of the Walls means you further design them to suit your building, your furniture and your culture. Using DIRTT’s intelligent, 3D software

called ICE®, you experience your space in real-time, interactive 3D and modify it to create the exact space you want. Every change you make is automatically updated in the quote, specification and production information.

A

s it always does, technology will change. DIRTT Walls are impervious to change. Universal mounting abilities – inside and outside the Walls – mean

whatever comes next will fit without demolition and rebuilding with all the attendant noise, material disposal and energy waste.

DIRTT Walls do not predict the future. They just go with it.

millwork A drawer that shuts itself. A credenza hanging off the floor. An overhead that is the perfect fit…these are little things that make a big difference.

D

IRTT Millwork is fully customizable, modular cabinetry. Just like built in situ millwork, you can create the perfect piece to fit the perfect space. Unlike

conventional millwork, DIRTT Millwork offers a set price, a fast lead-time, smooth install and long-term agility.

D

IRTT Millwork works for nearly any application – healthcare, corporate, residential, education, government… Finishes and shapes are determined by

the designer to suit the space. Using ICE® software, the designer designs while the software specifies, prices and produces manufacturing information. The perfect piece is produced quickly and without error.

H

ands-free drawers, secure lockers, non-splash-back sinks, overheads, Java Center cabinetry and countertops are just some of the many ways DIRTT

Millwork can morph into what you need, in the size you need, at the speed you need. It all hangs from the horizontal support in DIRTT Walls, ready to move if you need it to.

installation

I

n just 4 weeks DIRTT can manufacture projects that include: DIRTT Walls, DIRTT Millwork, and DIRTT Power & Data. Add in 1 week for shipping and you have The

Complete DIRTT Solution on-site and ready to install in just 5 weeks.

B

uild as Drawn is a term used to describe the finished work of the installation crew. All price quotations were based on the number of hours to build and

layout the furniture as shown on the installation drawing.

C

hange Orders are required to do any work not in the original scope of the installation quotation. This could be additional work not part of the original

work order or a request to change the build as drawn specification to some other variation. Generally, all changes to the scope of work are billable at the time and materials rate. Completion of change order work is based on crew availability and may require rescheduling.

P

ower and Data work is not completed by furniture installation personnel. This is due to code restrictions and the need for certifiable data connections. It is the

customer’s responsibility to order this work from independent contractors.

GOVERNMENT

overall benefits

All DIRTT Walls connect to each other and the base building the same way for a limited kit of parts and pieces and the freedom to mix and match the look and function you want.

All DIRTT Walls are parametrically engineered for the best module size for your space – there is no standard size (Only codes and physical limitations restrict heights and widths.)

Walls can be floor-to-ceiling or cornice height or even short pony walls with or without the ability to be stacked on at a later time. Both Glass and Solid Modular Walls offer faceted curves at initial design or retroactively.
