Manifestos - Vice President Student Activities CONNOR ALLEN Hi, my name is Connor Allen and I am standing for Vice President Student Experience. An active, adventurous and inclusive union is vital in order to fulfil every aspect of your once in a lifetime university experience. Meeting many students through my current position as Part-Time Officer, I feel there is many opportunities to widen the participation of every sports teams and societies with continuing and inventive recruitment drives not just during Fresher’s Week but the entire academic year. Finally the greatest thing I have learnt since being at the University is that “Listening is Key.” Vote for me, Connor Allen, and together we can better YOUR student experience.

VLAD MARIN My name is Vlad Marin, I’m a third year student on the Creative Digital Media course and I am standing in the SU elections for the position of Vice President Student Activities.

I have been working for Energize Worcester (student-lead project under the SU) and as a Student Ambassador for the University. I am a founding member of a non-profit organisation that helped students accommodate to new cities when they are moving in for a University. I am currently on the team responsible with planning the Worcester School of Art Degree Show. My focus is on strengthening the Students’ Union position in the University. This would push the University to increase the grant block funding therefore expanding the SU’s ability to provide quality social events. This development will be done through the expansion of the SU as an organisation by increasing students’ engagement. If I am elected, my aims are to: · Develop the current Students’ Union media platform through a new radio station that would be a source of information and entertainment for all students, as well as a funding opportunity for the SU. · Expand onto the Worcester Weeks activity roaster – SU-lead events that would focus on the non-academic part of a student’s life such as stress management sessions. Promote current societies – SU-lead events and promotional campaigns.

·

· Further develop the societies array of choices by encouraging the students to start new societies. Remember to vote, as your vote matters!

SAM PATRICK I'm Sam Patrick, a current third year studying Social Welfare. I strongly believe that joining a society is the best thing I've done in three years. I want to ensure that every student feels the same way. When I'm elected my top priorities are; 1. Continuing the equal representation of both sports and societies within the SU. 2. Ensuring every student has a society that represents them and their interests. 3. Better promotion of society events via social media / email. 4. Creation of a Creative Collective, an online resource where creative individuals can collaborate on music films, and shows.

Why me?   

I have been a committee member for the past two years and a StAR for the past three. I know how important your feedback is to ensure things run smoothly. I have been a support worker for individuals with disabilities for the past six years. I've learnt that communication between everybody is one of the most important things we can do. I appreciate how stressful it can be running a society and balancing studies at the same time. I would do all in my power to support committees with any problems they would face.
