Admissions Standards
International (non-immigrant) students must meet certain standards to ensure that they are prepared to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by WPI and contribute to academic life on campus. Undergraduate applicants must show high scholastic achievement with above-average academic performance in their secondary or high school studies and on national examinations (if such examinations are administered). Students transferring from a university or other institution of higher education should have aboveaverage grades in their post-secondary studies. Transfer applicants must follow the same guidelines as those set for first-year students, although the SAT or ACT is not required. Students who have achieved up to 30 semester hours of transferable credits may be admitted as freshmen with advanced standing. Students with 30 or more hours of credits should apply as transfer students. All international students must provide proof of financial ability and availability of funds for their total educational and living expenses before the I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status) can be issued.
