Over the years Wood River Land Trust has received donations from many different sources and stemming from many different motivations—memorial tributes, gifts in lieu of birthday presents, and inclusion in estate plans. One gift that truly gave us pause this past year was a request by Alexis Shapiro that a portion of her Bat Mitzah gifts be directed to Wood River Land Trust. We were struck by Alexis’ generosity and thoughtfulness: it is young, community-minded philanthropists like her who will carry on the good work of protecting the Wood River Valley’s land, water, and wildlife long after we are gone.
