The LMC Class of 2023 learned about economic development in the region at their Economic Development Session on April 6. The class heard a presentation on what economic development is by Laura Lea Palmer, Deputy Director of Conroe Economic Development Council. They heard from both Palmer and The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership CEO Gil Staley on the history of economic development in Montgomery County. They then heard from an economic development panel that included Craig Rhodes of the Greater Houston Partnership, Betty Russo with the Office of the Governor Economic Development & Tourism, Frank McCrady of East Montgomery County Improvement District, Staley, and Palmer. The class traveled to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for a presentation from Nick Wolda and Brad Bailey of Visit The Woodlands, along with a backstage tour and presentations by Cameron Klepac and Jeff Young of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The class then traveled by bus for their afternoon portion of their session to 202 Main in Conroe for an economic development simulation exercise and presentations from Frank Robinson, as well as Curtis Lindsey and Noble Lindsey on downtown Conroe. The day concluded with a driving tour of the Conroe Park North and the Deison Technology Park. Thank you to our Economic Development sponsor, The Woodlands Township!
