C.A.R.E.S. Committee Holds Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

The Chamber’s C.A.R.E.S. Committee has been planning for this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon since November 2022. The committee collaborates to come up with a theme that is fun, creative and celebrates the accomplishments of our nonprofit members. This year’s lunch, held on April 20, was themed “Thankful for Sweet Volunteers”.

The C.A.R.E.S. Committee breaks up into sub-committees and allows committee members the opportunity to choose a sub-committee that showcases their individual talents including theme décor, marketing, sponsorships and the community relations sub-committee that reaches out to our nonprofits.

Over 200 guests gathered at Sawyer Park for the luncheon where they enjoyed an inspiring presentation highlighting the success of our nonprofit members and showcasing the service projects completed by the C.A.R.E.S. Committee over the last year.

This year’s honored guest and keynote speaker was Dan Pastorini, former Houston Oilers quarterback and current Chairman of the nonprofit, Be an Angel.

Thank you to our nonprofit members who do so much for The Woodlands Community!

If you are looking for a way to learn about a variety of nonprofit organizations and are eager to serve others, we encourage you to check out the next C.A.R.E.S. Committee. The Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at The Chamber.

Thistle Draftshop and Thryv Co-Host | Meet the New Members

In March The Chamber traveled to Thistle Draftshop in Spring. The event was co-hosted by Thistle Draftshop and Thryv giving members the opportunity to connect with each other and learn more about the new businesses that joined The Chamber. Thistle Draftshop opened in late 2017 to serve and support Spring, The Woodlands and the surrounding area. The craft beer industry has been a passion of Mary Thorn’s for many years, starting with working at Houston’s oldest craft brewery, Saint Arnold. A longtime fan turned employee gave Mary the expanded knowledge of the craft beer business and the influential attitude of the industry. Mary’s concept for Thistle Draftshop was created to deliver the best-in-class craft beer from independent local, national and international breweries. The “Shop” incorporates a large selection of bottled and draft beer as well as wine for on and off premise sales.

Paul Mirand of Thryv has a passion of working with local businesses for over 25 years helping them make a difference in their community.

Through his partnership with Thryv, their objectives are to find ways to make a measurable impact on your business and help you achieve your goals. He looks for ways to impact areas like, revenue, expenses, image, productivity and efficiency.

Small businesses struggle with the demands of day-to-day tasks like marketing, scheduling, and communicating internally and externally with clients. Thryv will help streamline these tasks for you, saving you time and money to free you up to do what is most important, running your business and serving your customers.

The Thistle Draft “Shop” was previously an auto repair shop which included four bay doors, a large floor plan and opportunities for patios. Today the “Shop” has a racetrack style bar with a white granite top, tables made from railroad boxcar floors, reclaimed pine from the Bastrop, Texas fires and used barrels with creative artwork. There is a coffee lounge area with a library of books where one can sit, sip and enjoy a seat away from the bustling bar area. And if that isn’t enough, check out the event room for private parties, beer dinners, corporate meetings and more.

Thistle Draftshop is located at 5210 FM2920, Spring, TX 77388. Please stop in and check out the selection of beers or visit their website at thistledraftshop.com.
