became the latest buzz word in the world of martial arts, Bushidokan, has long been an advocate for versatile or eclectic training. Bushidokan is a pioneer of martial arts in the U.S. and known for challenging the faults associated with blind allegiance to one particular set of techniques. In all, Bushidokan has borrowed techniques from over 10 different martial arts and three primary systems: Karate, Judo, and Jujitsu. Add in large doses of kickboxing, realistic self-defense, military arts, weapons training, and body conditioning, and you start to get a pretty good picture of what Bushidokan is all about. All ages are welcome!

composition and lighting and how to avoid common photo mistakes. Bring your smartphone or camera. This course is taught by Bill Loring, who has 15 years of experience as a professional photographer, and is a full time Information Technology instructor at WNCC.

This course focuses on learning the fundamentals of using the newest version of Windows. If you recently received or purchased a new computer, this course is for you! Students learn how to use Microsoft Windows 10, including stepby-step instructions on navigating the user interface, working with Windows 10 apps, managing files and folders, using security tools, and managing devices. Students are welcome to bring their own laptop.

True Colors Nov 15 (W), 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., $20 Have you ever wondered why you are immediately drawn to certain people and dislike others? Do the actions of some people drive you crazy? Do you sometimes have trouble understanding your spouse, children, or grandchildren? It could be personality type. Come to this class and find out your true color! You could be a gold, blue, green, or orange. By exploring these four personality types, you will learn to recognize your personal strengths and those of others, understand and build rapport with others, communicate with different people, and accept those who are different from you. Passport Passengers Passport Passengers is an opportunity for senior citizens in our community to come together and learn about travel destinations around the world. Come and share your experiences of your personal travels and learn from those of others. Experience snacks and activities unique to each country. Participants receive a passport booklet during the first session and a sticker for each session they attend.

Beginning Sign Language Jan 24 – Feb 28 (W) 6:00 − 8:00 p.m., $30 This course utilizes a practical approach to teaching vocabulary, grammar, everyday applications of sign language, and aspects of Deaf Culture. We work toward becoming familiar and comfortable with grammatical features of American Sign Language and body/facial expressions. This interactive class is for beginners and those who are looking to refresh their expressive and receptive sign skills.

Intro to Supervision Jan 25, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., $50 The transition from individual contributor to supervisor is often one of the most challenging and stressful transitions in anyone’s career. This course provides people-managers with insight, tools, and best practices for making a successful and effective transition into a leadership role.

Driver's Education Jan 30 – Mar 1 (T, TH) 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., $195 This course is a state approved driver safety course for high school students ages 14 – 17. This course is not state approved for

adults 18 years of age and older. Students will complete 20 hours of classroom time and drive two to five hours with a Competency Certified Instructor. Eligible students must obtain a valid learner's permit and be at least 14 years of age by October 15, 2018 to register.

WNCC faculty teaches the American Heart Association Family and Friends CPR for adult, child, and infant, basic first aid, choking rescue techniques, and use of an AED. WNCC's Early Childhood Education director provides 10 hours of babysitting instruction on safety, food preparation, safe play and age appropriate activities. Learn about accepting babysitting jobs, negotiating pay, and exploring an early childhood education career. Pizza and milk are provided or participants can bring their own lunch. (Certificates provided.)


BOB ROSS PAINTING Bob Ross believed that everyone who wanted to paint, could paint like a natural with the right tools and a little encouragement. Come and experience the joy and confidence of painting a beautiful landscape using the Ross wet-on-wet technique. Students must bring a roll of paper towels to this class.

Remembering WWI: Its Lasting Influences Into the 21st Century Nov 6, Monday 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., $12 Interest in World War II remains high with the public; however, most of the civilian and government programs, military innovations, use of media, gender roles, and world involvement, to name a few, did not begin with this war. It began with the first World War that set into motion the 20th century, and its ramifications are felt well in to the 21st century. In April 2017, the U.S. commemorated its 100th anniversary involvement in this “war to end all wars.”

The Seven Keys to Unlocking a Great Painting, a 3-Day Workshop Nov 10 – 12 Friday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. WNAC members: $375 Non-members: $400 Learn how to use the seven keys from Turn of the Century Masters to transform your paintings into museum quality works of art! Learn how to condition your paint and produce the All Prima approach of painting. Add the skill of creating your own painting panels, dating back to Richard Schmid's proven method of creating texture and movement in making your own painting supports. "The examination of creating your own unique voice" will be explored in squinting, design, value control, edges, paint manipulation, variety and unity, and more. For the studio portion, students should bring photographs or small studies to work from while indoors. This class will focus on transferring what you see in nature or have photographed to your canvas, and still capture the emotion and mood of the subject. Also, learn about the Spirit of Painting, sharpening skills of observation and editing, but at the same time learning that the final product should also speak of ourselves as artists as much as the subject itself.

$100 deposit due Friday, October 20 to reserve a spot. The remaining balance will be due Friday, Novemeber 3.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Test Preparation Course

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Test Prep course is a 10-week blended format class designed to help current and future pharmacy technicians pass the Certified Pharmacy Technician exam administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The class includes weekly 3-hour lectures via ITV to Sidney and Alliance. The class will include an online piece to cover readings, recorded lectures and other learning resources. Additionally, a Saturday “Skills Check” lab will be required.

Prerequisites: Math Proficiency: A college math placement test is required. This test is free. Students can waive this requirement with proof of prior successful completion of college algebra. More information available upon request. Background Check: All students that are not currently employed as pharmacy technicians must pass a background check. The background check can be completed online.

Chef’s Delight Nov 13 – 16

This course is sure to be a delightful experience for young chefs. Several educational skills are enhanced as they share stories, participate in cooking exercises, learn science concepts, and develop good work habits as they work cooperatively in groups. What better motivator for learning than a good story and fun food?

Space Camp Nov 27 – 30

To infinity and beyond! This course is all about space! Learn about the entire universe: the solar system, planets, the sun, moons, stars, and constellations. Create a variety of representations of the solar system.

Cupcake Boss Dec 4 – 7

Cupcakes are simply irresistible single servings of delicious cakes and frosting dressed up in perfect little packages. In this course, student chefs participate in a number “challenges” to see who is the “boss” of each challenge. Some of the challenges are individual challenges and some are group challenges. A holiday flare will be added to this course.

K’NEX: where creativity clicks. In this course, students use K’NEX pieces to create a multitude of projects. Create catapults and then participate in the great catapult challenge to see how far you can catapult marshmallows. Create other projects such as carnival rides, vehicles, and bridges.

Beginning Candy Making

Action Performing Arts Academy

Acting lessons for youth & young adults! $40 per month

Whether or not you pursue a career in acting, the observations and discoveries you make will aide your child in their development as an individual by understanding the necessity of physical play in everyday situations. Students will plan and improvise plays based on personal experience, imagination, literature, and history. They will assume roles, explore personal preferences and meanings, and interact in classroom dramatizations. Students will compare, connect, and incorporate many art forms. This course is an introduction to the basic imaginative skills for the beginning actor. We will explore and implement the cooperative process of acting through scene and monologue performance in conjunction with improvisation and theatre games. This course will help the student explore the key elements of character creation and objective-based acting with the express purpose of discovering and evaluating what it means to be human.

The Adult Education program at WNCC focuses on preparing students for a successful future. Preparing for life is more than just earning a diploma or learning to speak English. The Adult Education program aims to provide the tools for greater academic, professional, and personal success. All Adult Education students are enrolled in the new Journey to Success Class, where they will explore career opportunities, identify their dream careers, and create a detailed path to follow as they journey forward. This class is designed to build a strong foundation of problem solving, analytical thinking, and organization skills, as well as teach strategies for producing greater academic success. After completing this course, students move into the appropriate GED classes or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
