Bushidokan is a pioneer of martial arts in the U.S. and known for challenging the faults associated with blind allegiance to one particular set of techniques. In all, Bushidokan has borrowed techniques from over 10 different martial arts and three primary systems: Karate, Judo, and Jujitsu. Add in large doses of kickboxing, realistic self-defense, military arts, weapons training, and body conditioning, and you start to get a pretty good picture of what Bushidokan is all about. Learn how to establish routines, set goals, create an efficient environment, and use time-honored planning and organizational tools to maximize their personal productivity. Some
people blame everything that goes wrong in their life on something or someone else, but through this workshop participants will take ownership and begin to lead a more productive life. This class is taught by Patricia Randolph, an instructor for many years and Nebraska Teacher of the Year in 1998. The course provides essential knowledge and skills to provide basic care and skills to residents / clients of health care facilities, including such topics as resident’s rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting, and assisting residents/clients in maintaining basic comfort and safety. It is designed to meet the training requirements of the federal and Nebraska state law for nursing assistants working in licensed facilities.
Stepping Out Mar 22 – May 3 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., FREE! This course is designed for people who are living at home and have experienced a fall or are concerned about falling. The program is an evidence-based program that is effective and proven to reduce falls in older people living in the community. Learn about strategies to implement positive lifestyle changes to keep you independent, upright, and active.
The evidence has proven that Stepping Out reduces falls by 31percent in the community. This program is unsuitable for people with memory problems, certain progressive neurological disorders, and people who are totally dependent on a walking frame. Stepping Out has NOT been proven to work with Parkinson’s Disease clients. Please refer these clients onto other appropriate evidence based treatment. Pickleball May 9 (W) 6:00 − 8:00 p.m., FREE! Terry Carpenter Center Pickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball (similar to a wiffle ball) over a net. The sport shares some features of other racket sports; the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, net and rules are similar to tennis with a few modifications. Get an excellent workout while having a great time! The game is great for both novice and

About the Presenter Bill Loring has been a full–time Information Technology Instructor at WNCC for eight years. His 20 years of experience as an IT consultant allows him to bring real world experience into the classroom. He completed his Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems from Bellevue University in 2016. Training in programming and databases laid a firm foundation for his new hobbies – programming robots, drones, and IoT devices. Change Management Feb 9, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Change is a constant in many of our lives. All around us, technologies, processes, people, ideas, and methods often change, affecting the way we perform daily tasks and live our lives. Having a smooth transition when change occurs is important in any situation and participants will gain some valuable skills through this workshop. The Change Management workshop will give any leader tools to implement changes more smoothly and to have those changes better accepted. This workshop will also give all participants an understanding of how change is implemented and some tools for managing their reactions to change.
Presentation Skills Mar 9, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Many studies have found that public speaking is the number one fear amongst most people, outranking flying, snakes, insects, and even death. Ironically, it is also one of the skills that can make or break a person’s career. Your participants will be provided a strong set of skills that will complement their current presentation skill set. The Presentation Skills workshop will give participants some presentation skills that will make speaking in public
less terrifying and more enjoyable. This workshop includes topics that participants can look forward to including: creating a compelling program, using various types of visual aids, and engaging the audience.
Public Speaking Apr 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 According to a 1973 survey by the Sunday Times of London, 41 percent of people list public speaking as their biggest fear. Forget small spaces, darkness, and spiders, standing up in front of a crowd and talking is far more terrifying for most people. Through this workshop participants will become more confident and relaxed in front of an audience, which will translate into a successful speaking event. However, mastering this fear and getting comfortable speaking in public can be a great ego booster, not to mention a huge benefit to your career. The Public Speaking workshop will give participants some basic public speaking skills, including in-depth information on developing an engaging program and delivering their presentation with power.
Cybersecurity May 18, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Every organization is responsible for ensuring cybersecurity. The ability to protect its information systems from impairment or even theft is essential to success. Implementing effective security measures will not only offer liability protection; it will also increase efficiency and productivity. MEDICAL INTERPRETATION TRAINING
Bridging the Gap for Medical Interpreters
In this 40 hour course, participants will learn: • introduction to the health care system • ethics, communication skills, and critical thinking • how to be culturally appropriate • how and when to act as an advocate for your patients • modes and roles of medical interpretation • basic medical vocabulary • professional development and other resources *This is not a certification course but can me used as a prerequisite for certification as a medical interpreter.
Requirements: Prospective students must pass a language proficiency exam designed to measure your ability in the target language. Cost of exam is not included.

K’NEX: where creativity clicks. In this course, students use K’NEX pieces to create a multitude of projects. Create catapults and then participate in the great catapult challenge to see how far you can catapult marshmallows. Create other projects such as carnival rides, vehicles, and bridges.
Cupcake Boss Advanced Feb 26 – Mar 1, $12 per day
Take your cupcake decorating skills to the next level in this advanced Cupcake Boss course! Learn a variety of decorating skills including working with different materials like fondant, edible markers and various candies. Challenges will continue to be involved with this course only kicked up a notch!
Gooey, Gross and Green Mar 5 – 8, $12 per day
Do you want to make slime or play with mud? In this course, create things that ooze, bounce, and squish! Take part in a number of hands-on gooey, gross, and green fun science and art projects.
Duct Tape Dynasty for Beginners Mar 12 – 15, $12 per day
Duct tape solves everything, right? Use it to decorate jars, composition books, pencil pouches, and more. We make entire creations such as wallets, flowers, and bracelets using only duct tape.
All About the Universe Mar 19 – 22, $12 per day
Explore the size and scale of our solar system by mapping out the sun and planets on a very large map—over 1,000 yards in length! Investigate the other planets in our solar system, observe the sun using telescopes, binoculars, and other tools. Captain Kirk would be proud!
Cool Chemistry Apr 9 – 12, $12 per day
Explore chemistry concepts in engaging and fun ways. In this course, students create and explore such things as crystal gardens, kazoos, gobs of goo, lava cups, fizz-inflators, and much more! Chemistry has never been so much fun!
Artistic Math Apr 16 – 19, $12 per day
Generate many creative projects to explore math concepts and build essential skills through art. Learn about math concepts like geometry, measurement, place value, and much more. This class teaches math in a way most kids have never experienced.

During these three or four days of classes, kids create original artwork and have a great time exploring different mediums and techniques. Action Performing Arts Academy
Acting lessons for youth & young adults! $40 per month
Whether or not you pursue a career in acting, the observations and discoveries you make will aide your child in their development as an individual by understanding the necessity of physical play in everyday situations. Students will plan and improvise plays based on personal experience, imagination, literature, and history. They will assume roles, explore personal preferences and meanings, and interact in classroom dramatizations. Students will compare, connect, and incorporate many art forms. This course is an introduction to the basic imaginative skills for the beginning actor. We will explore and implement the cooperative process of acting through scene and monologue performance in conjunction with improvisation and theatre games. This course will help the student explore the key elements of character creation and objective-based acting with the express purpose of discovering and evaluating what it means to be human.

The Adult Education program at WNCC focuses on preparing students for a successful future. Preparing for life is more than just earning a diploma or learning to speak English. The Adult Education program aims to provide the tools for greater academic, professional, and personal success. All Adult Education students are enrolled in the new Journey to Success Class, where they will explore career opportunities, identify their dream careers, and create a detailed path to follow as they journey forward. This class is designed to build a strong foundation of problem solving, analytical thinking, and organization skills, as well as teach strategies for producing greater academic success. After completing this course, students move into the appropriate GED classes or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
