LOSE WEIGHT THE SMART WAY Ditch the Fad Diets Are you tired of being overweight or constantly having to watch what you eat? Have you tried every diet and program on the market without success? Do you want to have more energy and be healthy? Do you make New Year’s resolutions and break them within a couple of weeks? If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, then this is the class for you. Each week will present ways to cope with challenges we all face and tips for living a better life. This is a fun, interactive class that will empower each of you for success in your own lives as well as put you on the road to healthy living.

Jan 8 ,15, 29, Feb 5, & 12 Mondays! 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. $25 for full series! Week One This class is an overview of the program where you will learn how to think about yourself, how to be a calorie and fat detective, and how to get that “right” attitude for success. An added highlight will be learning how to cope with the challenge of abdominal fat. Week Two This class is an overview of eating healthy. You all know the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, but do you know the difference between bad and good

fats? Do you realize the importance of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber in your diet? Would you like to learn some tips and ways to eat healthy? What are the 10 worst processed foods that we all eat? An added highlight will be learning how to cope with portion control. Week Three This class is an overview of the importance of physical activity. We all know the importance of exercise in losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but do we do it? I think many of us can answer

“no” to that question. This class will teach you the benefits of physical activity to your body and mind. Learn easy ways to incorporate structured, physical activity in your life and how to implement the 3 x 10 workout plan. Physical activity does not have to be torture. An additional highlight will be learning how to lose weight in your hips and thighs.

About the Presenter Pat Randolph is an experienced WNCC adjunct faculty member who has been on this personal journey. After trying all types of programs and diets, she finally found a healthy way to lose weight and keep active. Over the past two years, she has lost almost 20 pounds and kept it off. She looks forward to sharing what she has learned to help you achieve your healthy living goals.

Week Four This class is an overview of stress and the ways to cope with it. Did you know that eight out of 10 Americans are overwhelmed by stress? Did you realize that stress can cause chronic health problems? This class will show you how stressed you actually are and will teach you positive techniques to help you reduce your stress level. An added highlight will be learning how to cope with life through laughter.

Week Five This class is an overview on how to keep motivated and continue to use the tools you have learned in class. You have lost some weight and started on your path to a healthy lifestyle. However, how many times have you lost weight only to put it back on and maybe more? How many times have you made a New Year’s resolution to exercise more only to break it after a couple of weeks? This class will give you ways to establish healthy lifestyle

habits. Getting to a healthy weight and staying active is a lifestyle change and should be compared to a marathon, not a sprint. An added highlight will be learning how to cope with lack of balance and flexibility by stretching each day.

He completed his Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems from Bellevue University in 2016. Training in programming and databases laid a firm foundation for his new hobbies – programming robots, drones, and IoT devices. Project Management Jan 19, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 In the past few decades, organizations have discovered something incredible: the principles that have been used to create enormous successes in large projects can be applied to projects of any size to create amazing success. As a result, many employees are expected to understand project management techniques and how to apply them to projects of any size. The Project Management workshop will give participants an overview of the entire project management process, as well as key project management tools that they can use every day. Working with project planning documents, such as needs assessments, risk management plans and communication plans will provide benefits throughout your organization.

Change Management Feb 2, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Change is a constant in many of our lives. All around us, technologies, processes, people, ideas, and methods often change, affecting the way we perform daily tasks and live our lives. Having a smooth transition when change occurs is important in any situation and participants will gain some valuable skills through this workshop. The Change Management workshop will give any leader tools to implement changes

more smoothly and to have those changes better accepted. This workshop will also give all participants an understanding of how change is implemented and some tools for managing their reactions to change.

Presentation Skills Mar 9, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Many studies have found that public speaking is the number one fear amongst most people, outranking flying, snakes, insects, and even death. Ironically, it is also one of the skills that can make or break a person’s career. Your participants will be provided a strong set of skills that will complement their current presentation skill set. The Presentation Skills workshop will give participants some presentation skills that will make speaking in public less terrifying and more enjoyable. This workshop includes topics that participants can look forward to including: creating a compelling program, using various types of visual aids, and engaging the audience.

Public Speaking Apr 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 According to a 1973 survey by the Sunday Times of London, 41 percent of people list public speaking as their biggest fear. Forget small spaces, darkness, and spiders,

standing up in front of a crowd and talking is far more terrifying for most people. Through this workshop participants will become more confident and relaxed in front of an audience, which will translate into a successful speaking event. However, mastering this fear and getting comfortable speaking in public can be a great ego booster, not to mention a huge benefit to your career. The Public Speaking workshop will give participants some basic public speaking skills, including in-depth information on developing an engaging program and delivering their presentation with power.

Cybersecurity May 18, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60 Every organization is responsible for ensuring cybersecurity. The ability to protect its information systems from impairment or even theft is essential to success. Implementing effective security measures will not only offer liability protection; it will also increase efficiency and productivity. With our Cybersecurity workshop, participants will discover the fundamentals of cybersecurity as well as the methods that should be implemented to make sure their computer systems are protected.

Acting lessons for youth & young adults! $40 per month

Whether or not you pursue a career in acting, the observations and discoveries you make will aide your child in their development as an individual by understanding the necessity of physical play in everyday situations. Students will plan and improvise plays based on personal experience, imagination, literature, and history. They will assume roles, explore personal preferences and meanings, and interact in classroom dramatizations. Students will compare, connect, and incorporate many art forms. This course is an introduction to the basic imaginative skills for the beginning actor. We will explore and implement the cooperative process of acting through scene and monologue performance in conjunction with improvisation and theatre games. This course will help the student explore the key elements of character creation and objective-based acting with the express purpose of discovering and evaluating what it means to be human.
