Planned Giving

Making Dreams A Reality For more than 40 years, the many volunteers who have served on the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation continually plan for the needs of our students and ensure that WNCC provides an excellent education far into the future. The Foundation serves to expand access and maintain affordability of education to all within the communities of our service area. Students are our top priority. WNCC provides quality, affordable education close to home. The Foundation provides businesses, individuals, and organizations the opportunity to transform lives every day through the gift of education. Maintaining a focus on student success is no small task; we cannot do it alone. Your investment in students makes educational dreams a reality. You may already give to WNCC with a pledge of support annually or through year end giving.

Making Your Gifts Go Further Planned gifts are just that – they require some planning before they are made. “We got our start here and continue to see how WNCC provides a great beginning for students throughout the 12½ county Panhandle region.” – Bob & Elaine Pile

Benefits of Planning Wisely Planned giving is a way for you to integrate your personal, financial, estate, and charitable giving intentions. You may be able to: • Make a larger charitable donation than you thought possible • Consider family and friends’ needs first • Reduce income tax and avoid capital gains taxes • Leave a legacy without giving up income or assets during your lifetime • Provide beneficiaries with a lower inheritance tax cost • Plan your legacy during your lifetime

“We’re all busy, but taking the time to really look at how we can benefit the organizations we feel passionate about will make a difference for their future. It brings me tremendous joy in knowing I have helped with that success for a vibrant Panhandle well into the future. That is the legacy I want to leave for my family and fellow Nebraskans.” – Senator John Harms, Nebraska State Senator (2007-2015)

Ways to Leave Your Legacy Charitable planned giving

uses tax, financial, and estate planning techniques that enable you to make charitable gifts, while also deriving personal, tax, and financial benefits for yourself and your heirs (usually children and grandchildren). Creative planned giving techniques can be tailored to meet specific needs, your wishes and objectives, as well as to assist the Foundation in achieving its critical funding goals.

Your Will or Living Trust:

The simplest and most common form of a planned gift is designating WNCC in one’s will for a specific sum or percentage of the estate. Donors can specify a gift of cash, stocks, bonds, personal property, or real estate. You may prefer to give a percentage of your estate or the residual of the estate after gift bequests to family members. Arrangements can be made through your own attorney to make a bequest to WNCC.

Life Insurance: Naming WNCC as a beneficiary of a term life insurance policy provides a future gift based on your priorities. Giving a policy with cash value provides an immediate gift.

Retirement Plan: There may be tax advantages to designating WNCC as a beneficiary of the remainder of your retirement plan.

Giving Opportunities We look forward to working with you to plan your legacy gift. • What impact do you want to make? • What programs would you like to strengthen with your financial support?

Named Funds

can be established to honor a loved one or recognize an individual, family, or business.

• Scholarships • Programs • Facilities

Unrestricted Funds

provide support where the need is the greatest. The funds give the College the ability to respond quickly when needs and opportunities arise.

“My experience with WNCC changed how I thought about school. I loved my classes there. I loved my instructors. I am grateful for everything that WNCC taught me. It gave me a love for medicine.” – Johanna Roberts Huff, 1990 WNCC Graduate
