African American Go Now Missions

My experience in Canada was one of surrender and trust to God. I was walking into a situation not knowing anything about Canada and knowing very little about North African Middle Eastern peoples. I had to come as a learner, surrendering my intellect, my pride, my control, to just allow myself to trust God with whatever we were doing. This heart posture also naturally led me to be more consistent with my spiritual disciplines, and I saw how those two things directly correlated to each other. I couldn’t do any ministry well if I wasn’t spending time in the Word, in prayer, and in God’s presence. Throughout the summer, we moved around the Greater Toronto Area. During this time, we would do ethnographic mapping to see where North African Middle Eastern peoples were located. Most of the time, we didn’t really see results and it was disappointing, but I had to remember that we are in the business of planting seeds, not saving people. I believe with all the people we had conversations with over those five weeks in Canada, by God’s grace, we planted a lot of seeds and left the Greater Toronto Area better than we found it.
