Racing season runs from October to May, and several prestigious events are held in March and April. You can visit Al Sheehaniya at any time, and local tour companies arrange trips when races are scheduled. Dhows & Fishing. The dhows (traditional Arab wooden sailing vessels with one or more lateen sails) of the Gulf can be seen in the bay on Doha’s Corniche and in the fishing harbours of Al Wakra and Al Khor. Short trips can be taken off Doha’s Corniche, where a number of dhows are permanently moored, while tour companies organise private trips on large dhows.
