Letter from the President Dear Friends, w!se has an impressive track record of successfully addressing America’s urgent need for financial literacy and college/workplace readiness programs. We provide real-world, innovative, high quality and cost effective educational programs and support services that promote excellence in education. These award-winning programs primarily help middle and lower income Americans prepare for their future while instilling the knowledge and skills they need for the 21st century. We are proud to reach more than 150,000 annually. In 2015, we advanced our strategic goals by: Increasing the number of schools and states participating in our Financial Literacy Certification program to record totals; Celebrating the record number of 302 Blue Star Schools and their 745 Gold Star teachers at our annual MoneyPOWER Conference; Launching new partnerships with the Council for Economic Education, DECA and the California Community College System.

Inspiring students through our w!se Institute at the High School of Economics and Finance with more than 100 seminars provided by 224 business and non-profit volunteers; Encouraging 850 students to become socially active in their communities through our Quality of Life INNOVATIONS Program; and Expanding the number of participants in the highly regarded Euro Challenge Program that helps 9th and 10th grade students develop their understanding of economics, the Euro, the European Union and the Euro Area.

It was a record year for the Financial Literacy Certification Program (FLCP) with 22% growth in the number of students reached. Furthermore, the passing rate on our Certification Test in 2014-15 was 81.5%, 4.5 percentage points higher than in 2013-14. Our relationship driven and service focused program has led to this great success, and has made us a national leader in the financial literacy field. This report demonstrates w!se’s committment to positively affecting lives nationally and highlights the meaningful work we do. Our strong staff, passionate Board of Directors, and dedicated funders, sponsors and volunteers help us deliver quality products and services as well as effectively measure impact. As one of our students, who was accepted this fall to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, said: “w!se was such an integral part of my high school experience and college application. Thank you for the opportunity to learn more about economics and financial literacy. It has helped me decide to pursue a career in economics.” Looking forward, we will continue to build on the momentum and accomplishments of 2015 and to be inspired by the words of Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Please visit www.wise-ny.org to learn more about the work w!se does and how we can work together in the coming year to positively impact lives. Sincerely,

Phyllis Frankfort Perillo Founder, President & CEO

“In my opinion, personal finance is the most important class a student can take in high school. I have learned so much about investing and being responsible with my money. Every student should know how to handle money and use it to better themselves financially. Everyone has to deal with money in their life, not know how to do an algebra problem. Austin Stukes, Lexington Technology Center

Financial Literacy w!se Webinars This year we continued to host monthly webinars covering topics included in our Financial Literacy Certification Program. The webinars are available to all educators enrolled in the Certification Program. A highlight of 2015 was a webinar featuring a film on the stock market called The Street, one of 20 short films about the economy and finance from a series called “We the Economy.” The film’s director joined the webinar and answered participants’ questions about the film. New Partnerships In 2015, we established new partnerships with The Council for Economic Education, DECA and the California Community College System. These partnerships will expand the scope and reach of our programs. MoneyW!SE Program for Survivors of Domestic Violence

The 2014-2015 MoneyW!SE Program saw impressive growth. One of the newest programs at w!se, MoneyW!SE offers survivors of domestic violence the opportunity to take a full semester course in personal finance. At the

culmination of instruction, clients who pass the MoneyW!SE Financial Literacy Certification Test earn a credential and become Certified Financially Literate™. In 2014-15, MoneyW!SE expanded to three new locations: Staten Island, New Orleans and Philadelphia. The program is now run in all five boroughs of New York City through the Family Justice Centers, which are operated by the New York City Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence. The program also expanded (with impressive registration numbers) at the Family Justice Center managed by the YWCA in Salt Lake City, Utah and at the YWCA in San Diego, California. In spring 2015, MoneyW!SE was conducted in Brooklyn for the first time entirely in Spanish, responding to the growing population of Spanish-speaking clients. The MoneyW!SE course was first held in Spanish in the Bronx in 2014.

Praise from MoneyW!SE Clients “I want to say thank you for this course and to every-body who helped make it real. It taught me a lot and [gave me] confidence in the financial part of life.” Client “Thank you for helping me to improve my knowledge about finances in the U.S. and how to apply this in my daily life. This class is opening opportunities for me to work in the financial world. I can add this certification to my resume!” Client

Quality of Life INNOVATIONS The Quality of Life INNOVATIONS Program (QLI) develops college readiness in high school students through a project-based educational challenge. QLI students learn how they can make a difference in their communities by first researching and then developing and presenting feasible solutions to real-world problems.

Tristate region. The Teacher’s Guide and Student Manuals were updated to emphasize the implementation section of the proposal where students are asked to take steps to implement their recommendations in their community. Evaluation tools were also upgraded to collect additional information.

More than 850 students from 15 schools participated in the 2015 Competition and submitted 575 proposals, which were assessed by 100 volunteer judges. The 2015 First Place proposal that received a college scholarship was “Reducing Food Waste in NYC Public Schools through the Implementation of Composting Programs,” a proposal about identifying the amount of food waste that could be diverted from landfills through the implementation of composting programs in NYC schools. The award-winning proposal was written by a student from Townsend Harris High School.

Looking Ahead

“I learned a great deal about researching and how much effort goes into making a change in the community.” Kemin Chen, High School of Telecommunications, Arts and Technology

In 2016, we will continue to improve the Quality of Life INNOVATIONS Program. Through a new grant from Autonomous Research, we are increasing scholarships and introducing a mentoring program where volunteers from Autonomous Research will assist students throughout the proposal writing process. Autonomous Research has also afforded us the opportunity to launch an innovative online platform to simplify the submission and judging of student proposals.

This year, we expanded the QLI Program outside NYC to serve schools throughout the
