There’s nowhere better to lose yourself this summer than the Palace Theatre and Opera House. With two jampacked programmes featuring an array of musicals, operas, ballet and more, there truly is something for everyone this season.

Five years after a record-breaking run in the West End, The Commitments (Mon 5 – Sat 10 June) are finally heading to the Opera House! Based on the BAFTA Award-winning film and directed by Andrew Linnie, this smash-hit production stars Coronation Street legend Nigel Pivaro and features over 20 soul classics including Try A Little Tenderness, I Heard It Through The Grapevine and Mustang Sally!

The Opera House will also play host to Disney’s timeless classic Winnie the Pooh (Mon 24 – Wed 26 July). Join Winnie, Christopher Robin and their best friends as they come to life in a beautifully crafted musical stage adaptation featuring stunning lifesized puppetry in a new story from the Hundred Acre Wood.

It’s time to escape to a world of pure imagination at The Palace Theatre with Roald Dahl’s Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – The Musical (Tue 11 – Sun 30 July). This specular show features all the memorable songs from the original 1970s film including The Candy Man and Pure Imagination. Every ticket is golden so book yours today!

It’s time to paint the Opera House green at Shrek the Musical (Tue 1 – Sat 12 August). Based on the Oscar-winning film this hilarious musical comedy features a ‘shrektackular’ cast and score, including theatre extraordinaire Antony Lawrence as Shrek and Strictly Come Dancing’s Joanne Clifton as Princess Fiona.

Get ready to head back to high school in the smash-hit West End show Heathers The Musical (Tue 8 – Sat 12 August). This black comedy rock musical based on the eponymous 1988 film sees Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer join the Heathers in the hope her dreams of popularity may finally come true, until she learns it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody…

Fall into theatre heaven with a brand-new production of the iconic global phenomenon Jesus Christ Superstar (Mon 11 – Sat 23 September). Directed by Timothy Shreader with music and lyrics by multi award-winners Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas.

Fab-u-lous darlings! Join Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood as the tyrannical Miss Hannigan in the legendary West End production of Annie (Mon 18 - Sat 30 September). With its Tony Award-winning score, you can look forward to hearing the unforgettable songs It’s The HardKnock Life, Easy Steet and Tomorrow.
