JUNE 7 - 8 Summer in Miami continues with an impressive roster of entertainment. Venues like the Hard Rock Live, the Fillmore Miami Beach, the Colony

Theatre, and the James L. Knight Center bring us a variety of music, including rock band ZZ Top, the Count Basie Orchestra, Argentine pop singer Diego Torres, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Miami Gay Men’s Chorus, and salsa legends Ruben Blades and Gilberto Santa Rosa. Miami’s theatre season seems like it never ends, as venues like the Broward Center, the Arsht Center, Main Street Playhouse, GableStage and New Theatre offer productions of Hair, A Streetcar Named Desire, In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play), Summer Shorts, Dirty Little Secrets, and Fool For Love. Fans of dance will be treated to a special evening of flamenco with “Senderos Flamencos.” Miami continues to live up to its reputation as City of Festivals with Out in the Tropics, a GLBT Performing Arts Festival, and The Miami International Piano Festival’s Four Hands Two Pianos. Miami’s summer is already hot with this incredible lineup of entertainment.

THEATRE

The legendary rock band, ZZ Top, brings their music to the Hard Rock Live on June 8 at 8 p.m. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. The legend of Count Basie lives on with the Count Basie Orchestra, directed by Dennis Mackrel, who will perform at the Coral Gables Congregational Church on June 9 at 8 p.m. Argentine Grammy Award-nominated pop singer and composer Diego Torres comes to the Fillmore Miami Beach at The Jackie Gleason Theatre on June 11 at 8 p.m.

The Broadway revival of the musical Hair continues its run at the Au-Rene Theater of the Broward Center thru June 19. The electrifying musical includes hit songs like “Aquarius,” “Easy to be Hard,” and “Let The Sun Shine In.”

Blood, Sweat & Tears, known for hit songs like “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” “Spinning Wheel,” and “And When I Die,” bring their incredible “jazz-rock” sound to Hard Rock Live on June 16 at 8 p.m. Miami Gay Men’s Chorus pays tribute to boy bands like The Temptations, Beatles, Beach Boys, Bee-Gees, Village People, Queen, Wham, and NSYNC in their newest show, Let’s Hear it for the Boys!, on June 17 & 18 at the Colony Theatre. City Theatre’s hilarious Summer Shorts series, with headliner Jai Rodriguez, continues at the Arsht Center through June 26. Summer Shorts presents the nation’s hottest short plays featuring a talented cast of actors. The Alliance Theatre Lab presents Sam Shepard’s play Fool For Love through June 29 at the Main Street Playhouse. City Theatre and Out in the Tropics present Dirty Little Secrets, Jai Rodriguez’s hilarious, provocative and irreverent musical revue, running June 10-24 at the Arsht Center. Jai Rodriguez, star of stage, television, and film, is best known as one of the stars of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. GableStage at the Biltmore brings the hilarious play In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play) a comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity, running thru June 12. New Theatre presents the modern classic A Streetcar Named Desire, the tale of a fading Southern belle and a sexy beer-chugging barbarian, thru June 19.

COMEDY Comedian Joel McHale, star of the hit series Community and The Soup, brings his humor to Hard Rock Live on June 11 at 8 p.m.

DANCE Fans of Flamenco will not want to miss “Senderos Flamencos,” a special evening of dance presented by Clarita Filgueiras - Flamenco Puro at Casa Panza Café on June 11. This production fuses the fire of the best of contemporary Spanish and American Flamenco.
