RC: Why should people come to see your upcoming show? SB: Being able to share our art with the audience is marvelous. I encourage everyone to come to the theater and to feel from their hearts the explosion of energy that the Sombras team produces onstage. RC: What are the 3 biggest accomplishments of your company Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras in its 20 years of history? SB: Hm, I can start and I'd never end. The truth is that the company has always been there and has been very responsive to every challenge. The Sombras team boast respect and admiration for this amazing art, Flamenco. RC: As an ambassador of Spanish culture to the world, why do you feel it is so important to share your country's culture with people around the globe? SB: This is an honor for me as I love this country. It is also a big responsibility, but I am very proud to be able to represent my culture, mainly because I do it on behalf of Flamenco. His new large scale photo book, Men and Water, will include photos that involve water, on and around beautiful men in various stages of undress, from fully clothed to totally nude. David is using crowdfunding to publish his latest book, so Wire Magazine sat down with him to discuss his Kickstarter campaign and preview his Men and Water book. Rafa Carvajal: Tell our readers about your large scale photo book, Men and Water. David Vance: Men and Water will include images that involve water, on and around beautiful men in various stages of undress, from fully clothed to totally nude. The photos are sexy, sensual and fun. The book is 13.5x10.4 inches. It will be 128 pages. Printed in Italy. RC: Why Men and Water and not another topic such as men on the sand, or men in the forest? DV: Although I've lived in this tropical paradise with water all around my whole life, most of my books have been shot in the studio. I, obviously have also shot a lot outdoors, and near the water, but I've never really done a book of those kinds of images. RC: Why did you launch a Kickstarter campaign to publish your book? DV: After several years and several books with Bruno Gmuender in Germany, they are no longer publishing books. Crowdfunding really is my only option. I follow in the footsteps of my friends and fellow photographers, Michael Stokes, Rick Day and Dylan Rosser. #06 2019 WIREMAG.COM 15

RC: Until what date will the Kickstarter campaign be running, and how can Wire Magazine readers participate in your Men and Water book campaign? DV: It's scheduled between March 1st and April 1st. After I have all the images that work with the theme, I start by putting all the images on a board and then carefully and tediously juxtaposing them into a flow of images that feels right. RC: Who is the model on the cover of Men and Water? Tell us about him. DV: He is Italian/Argentine, Luca Angelora. I photographed him several years ago for the cover of DNA. The cool thing about him is he's so beautiful in person, it's a bit intimidating until he smiles with a slight split between his front teeth like Madonna... you just melt because you realize that he's simpatico. He's warm as well as beautiful. RC: How many models are you including in your book, and what criteria did you use to choose them from your very extensive body of work? DV: About 41, I think. I don't really have a specific criteria. When I'm shooting a test with a model, if he fits the project I'm working on, I will just shoot him for it. Sometimes photos end up in the book, not always. RC: What does the art of photography mean to you? DV: It means captivating someone's attention long enough to touch their heart. RC: How do you find the male models for your photography work, and how can someone interested in working with David Vance reach you? DV: Of course, social media is the place to connect. I have models and agents contacting me about shooting. I will also reach out to models on Instagram to see if they're planning on being in the Miami area and would be interested in shooting. hese days we've all been trained not to pick up any suspicious packages we see in public places, especially in New York City, especially on a subway. What train rider doesn't know that? The stupidity of picking up such an object forms the basis of this film; it also forms the basis of the total stupidity of watching this disappointing and mundane misfire from Academy Award-winning Director Neil Jordon (The Crying Game, The End of the Affair).

turns out to be Greta (Isabelle Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher whose quaint little apartment is filled with the sounds of Chopin and Liszt and strange noises coming from behind the piano. Frances, who recently lost her mother, finds herself strangely drawn to the lonely widow and strikes up what seems to be a harmless intergenerational friendship with her. As they grow closer, Greta's demeanor becomes increasingly erratic and obsessive. Stumbling on a hidden secret, it soon becomes obvious to Frances that nothing in Greta's life is what it seems to be and she had better end the relationship before it spirals out of control. But, will Greta just go quietly away?
There is nothing wrong with this type of film, it can be highly entertaining and there have been plenty of really good movies based on the theme of a psycho, crazy woman preying on innocents in the big city. You only need to reach back a few years to find them.
