PUBLISHER'S CORNER: UNLIKE TRUMP, LADY LIBERTY WELCOMES IMMIGRANTS FROM SHITHOLE COUNTRIES I despise racism! So when I heard that Donald Trump had uttered his racist statement about rejecting immigrants coming to the U.S. from shithole countries, I felt both disgust and outrage. How dare this man think that he gets to choose who we welcome as our fellow immigrants? Trump's beliefs, statements and actions are un-American and completely wrong. Donald Trump is confusing the job of president with that of a third world tyrant or an unpopular king who rules as he pleases and expects everyone to kiss his ass and blindly agree with everything he says or lies about. The White House is not Trump Tower, where he used to force everyone to agree with him or told them "you're fired!" It is the American people who will tell Trump – not soon enough – that he is fired because our nation does not believe in racism and open discrimination against immigrants who want to come here in search of freedom and a better life. Trump is not only uttering racist comments, he is also a hypocrite. On a whim, Trump decides which nations to label shitholes and which immigrants to reject, even though he is married to an immigrant who gave birth to his youngest son, and he wed and divorced another immigrant who gave birth to three of his other children. Worse, Trump is quick to insult immigrants, even though his own mother, a 17-year-old Mary Anne MacLeod from the remote Scottish fishing town of Tong, sailed on the S.S. Transylvania from Glasgow to New York City in 1929 dreaming of a better life in the United States. It is immigrants from all over the world and regular Americans who have made America great and continue to do so! Allow me to provide you just two examples out of millions. A young man named Steve Jobs, whose father came to this country from Syria, built Apple. Another immigrant from Hungary named Joseph Pulitzer printed the names of everyday New Yorkers on the cover of his newspaper every time someone donated their pocket change, and made it possible to raise the funds for building the pedestal required for Lady Liberty to end up standing tall in New York Harbor. Pulitzer was the very embodiment of the American journalism that Trump despises so much, and the coveted Pulitzer Prizes bear his name!

I will never forget the emotion I felt and the tears in my eyes the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty up close. To a young immigrant from Costa Rica, Lady Liberty represented everything that is wonderful about the U.S., and our nation's long history of welcoming the millions of immigrants who have made America great. We don't need Trump to make America great again. The United States is already great and Trump is actually making America worse from the very presidency once held by Abraham Lincoln. Let's reject the nonsense coming out of Trump's mouth by speaking out against his racist comments and discrimination!

STILTSVILLE FISH BAR IS WHERE IT'S AT!
Fortunately for Kim and I, Jeff offered to do a tasting for us, so we could enjoy some of the most delectable dishes on the menu. As Snacks we enjoyed the Smoked Fish Dip with cherry wood smoked local catch, house pickles thyme & butter toasted saltines; Green Eggs & Ham with green deviled eggs, crispy country ham & pickles; Crispy Coconut Shrimp with kataifi wrapped local shrimp, roasted miami coconut & key lime; and the Buffalo Fish Wings basket with chili lime hot sauce & celery hearts. For Small Plates we loved the Sweet Corn Spoon Bread with buttermilk cream & scallions, and butter poached lobster; Cobia Tiradito with avocado,

love fresh, high-quality seafood, and so does my dear friend and fishing partner Kim Falconer. So we were delighted for the opportunity to try out Stiltsville Fish Bar and meet Executive Chef Jeff McInnis. Stiltsville features classic seafood cookery enhanced with modern techniques, and a cocktail menu of refreshing Key West style drinks. This new restaurant by Grove Bay Hospitality Group and culinary duo Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth is located in Miami Beach's Sunset Harbour neighborhood. The delicious fish house was inspired by both Jeff's childhood growing up in Florida's panhandle – where he fished and enjoyed boating in the Gulf waters – and his and Janine's love of simply prepared seafood.
crispy hominy & popped corn aji amarillo chili, cilantro & lime; and Wood Grilled Oysters with greenneck butter & charred sourdough. Our Large Plates were the delightful Shrimp N' Grits with stone ground grits, creole sausage melted tomatoes, sweet peas & shrimp butter; the Bayleaf & Citrus Crusted Fried Chicken with watermelon pickle salad & Stiltsville hot sauce; and a perfectly prepared mixed grill of Tilefish, Grouper and Redfish from the Daily Catch menu. It is rare to see redfish on a menu, which is a very local fish considered to be one of the best by true fishermen. For dessert, we sampled the Coconut Key Lime Pie with coconut Graham Cracker crust, whipped cream and fresh key lime; and the Gooey Chocolate Cobbler with passion fruit ice cream. After a wonderful dinner, I sat down with Jeff to learn more about Stiltsville Fish Bar.
Rafa Carvajal: How did the concept for Stiltsville Fish Bar come out? Chef Jeff McInnis: The concept is inspired by my childhood growing up in Florida's Panhandle, fishing and boating in the Gulf waters, and passion for simply prepared seafood. RC: What inspired you to create the dishes at Stiltsville Fish Bar? JM: Growing up on the Florida Panhandle, we had a laid-back lifestyle. The fish house concept was never brought up in our neighborhood because that's what most of the restaurants were along the Gulf Coast and still are today. A local restaurant was usually connected to a family that owned at least one or two shrimping or fishing vessels. It would just be plain strange to see tuna or hamachi from the Pacific waters in our hometown. I've been concerned over my long tenure living in South Florida about the lack of real "Florida fish houses" in the Miami area, and my partners and I agree it's just a necessity to have this concept represented as best as it could be for the locals of Miami. RC: Describe your cuisine at Stiltsville Fish Bar for our readers who enjoy dining out. JM: Our cuisine can be described as classic seafood with a modern twist.
PHOTOS PROVIDED BY GROVE BAY HOSPITALITY GROUP
RC: What differentiates Stiltsville Fish Bar from other popular restaurants in Miami Beach? JM: We feel that when customers walk into Stiltsville Fish Bar they feel at home in a real neighborhood fish house on the bay. It's the focus of our restaurant's direction and synonymous with the name: local fish, local people, old Florida, and salty beautiful sunsets.
"I'VE BEEN CONCERNED OVER MY LONG TENURE LIVING IN SOUTH FLORIDA ABOUT THE LACK OF REAL 'FLORIDA FISH HOUSES' IN THE MIAMI AREA, AND MY PARTNERS AND I AGREE IT'S JUST A NECESSITY TO HAVE THIS CONCEPT REPRESENTED AS BEST AS IT COULD BE FOR THE LOCALS OF MIAMI." - CHEF JEFF MCINNIS
#03 2018 WIREMAG.COM 9
RC: Describe Stiltsville Fish Bar in three words. JM: Local, mermaidness and tasty. RC: What do you think guests enjoy the most about dining at Stiltsville Fish Bar? JM: Being able to experience and taste really fresh seafood from waters located only a few feet away from you. The knowledge that they're getting the freshest fish. RC: What are the three most popular dishes with diners at Stiltsville Fish Bar? JM: Our Daily Catch is insanely popular; the Smoked Fish Dip and Coconut Shrimp. RC: Why do you think diners love those dishes the most? JM: The dishes have their own independent characteristics that make them their own. You can really taste the labor and love that goes into them. RC: What are your personal top 3 favorite dishes at Stiltsville Fish Bar, and why? JM: Definitely our Daily Catch, Fish Wings (which is a dish that only a real fish lover would appreciate) and the Smoked Fish Dip because, like I said, you can really taste the labor and love that goes into them.
"THE COCKTAIL PROGRAM FEATURES RUM FOCUSED COCKTAILS INSPIRED BY THE RELAXED VIBES OF THE FLORIDA KEYS AND KEY WEST." - CHEF JEFF MCINNIS
RC: How do you put together your Daily Catch menu at Stiltsville Fish Bar? JM: This section is constantly changing as we bring in fish daily from our fisherman. We have a few fishermen that we use, who only bring in fish from our backyard and down through the Keys. On any given day, we could have three to eight different species on the rotating menu. The preparation is extremely simple for all the right reasons. Pick your fish, a side dish, and a sauce. This fish will be presented to you in its simplest state with the sauce on the side, so you can really get to experience the natural real flavor from our local bays and oceans.
RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers about Stiltsville Fish Bar? JM: My partner in crime, Janine Booth, is an amazing fishmonger, mermaid woman and badass line cook; she is the backbone of Stiltsville Fish Bar. I couldn't make this happen without her. On a less cheesy note, in the future we're launching lunch and a daily fish market with grab and go options. Not to mention the world's coolest rooftop dining in 2018. We also offer a delicious brunch Friday through Sunday!

t seems like just yesterday we were proudly sporting our tacky party hats, sipping bubbly till we got sloppy and scanning the room for a stray set of lips to welcome the New Year with. Now that the glitter has settled and your hangover has healed (for now), it's time to celebrate the music that made 2017 a little more bearable. In just a couple of weeks, the industry's crème-de lecrème will gather to stroke the egos of those who caressed our eardrums, made us move and woke us up over this past year. If you're curious as to what this year's 60th Grammy Awards performances will be like, some of the nominees are already on deck to grace the stage including Lady Gaga, P!nk, Kesha, SZA, Cardi B and Bruno Mars – who is treasuring six nominations. Since I couldn't squeeze in all 84 categories in here (nor would I want to), here are just some of the highlights along with who I think should grab the Grammy on January 28.

BEST NEW ARTIST Khalid Lil Uzi Vert Julia Michaels SZA Alessia Cara There was definitely no shortage of fresh-faced talent in 2017. Some we heard on steady rotation from day one, while others made their debut towards the latter half of the year. This Canadian singer-songwriter not only proved her worth through solo hits like "Wild Things" and "Scar to Your Beautiful," she also showed us she plays well with others through collaborations like "Wild" (with Troye Sivan), "Stay" (with Zedd) and the 'Song of the Year' contender, "1-800-273-8255" which she co-wrote.
BEST POP SOLO PERFORMANCE "Love So Soft" - Kelly Clarkson "Million Reasons" - Lady Gaga "What About Us" - P!nk "Shape Of You" - Ed Sheeran "Praying" - Kesha Talk about a Sophie's Choice! If it were up to me, all of these nominees would share this award. They each brought their own unique gifts to the table – whether it be raw vocals, a poignant message, an addictive hook or a relatable story. But if I must choose, I would have to go for 2017's most anticipated comeback. After losing her battle in the courtroom, she stormed back into the studio and bounced back like a true warrior with her head up high and her voice loud.
BEST POP DUO / GROUP PERFORMANCE "Despacito" - Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Featuring Justin Bieber "Something Just Like This" - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay "Stay" - Zedd & Alessia Cara "Thunder" - Imagine Dragons "Feel It Still" - Portugal. The Man Not gonna lie. There's something about Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds that makes parts of me rumble like thunder, but sadly that's not the type of performance that wins you a Grammy. However, this one is! These newbies have moved into the tired old dance-pop domain and are giving it a much-needed makeover. Can't wait to see what other upgrades they've got in store for 2018. #03 2018 WIREMAG.COM 15
BEST POP VOCAL ALBUM Kaleidoscope EP - Coldplay Lust For Life - Lana Del Rey Evolve - Imagine Dragons Rainbow - Kesha รท (Divide) - Ed Sheeran Joanne - Lady Gaga Joanne's country slant and shortage of dance anthems may have split Gaga's fans, but that doesn't mean it's not a fantastic album. Check your genre preferences and Fame Monster expectations at the door and you'll hear brilliant storytelling, moving melodies and the perfect soundtrack to your Friday night karaoke bar crawl with your besties (minus the broken down truck and cheating lover).
BEST R&B PERFORMANCE "Get You" - Daniel Caesar featuring Kali Uchis "Distraction" - Kehlani "High" - Ledisi "The Weekend" - SZA "That's What I Like" - Bruno Mars Who hasn't dreamt about owning a "beach house in Miami" where you "wake up with no jammies?" If you haven't, then you probably already own one. Either way, there's no getting this melody out of your head once it's washed over you. With his gravely pipes, sick moves and chameleon-like versatility, this track is just one example of why Bruno Mars is quickly becoming this generation's Michael Jackson.
PRODUCER OF THE YEAR Calvin Harris Greg Kurstin Blake Mills No I.D. The Stereotypes Unless you're an obsessive audiophile like me, you may not have heard of this unstoppable songwriting/production team, but you've definitely heard their work. By crafting hits like "Better" (Lil Yachty Featuring Stefflon Don), "Deliver" (Fifth Harmony), "Finesse" (Bruno Mars), "Mo Bounce" (Iggy Azalea) and dozens more, this quartet consisting of Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves and Ray Charles McCullough II have definitely earned their moment of glory.

RECORD OF THE YEAR "Redbone" - Childish Gambino "The Story Of O.J." - Jay-Z "HUMBLE." - Kendrick Lamar "24K Magic" - Bruno Mars "Despacito" - Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber As much as I'd love to snub the Beeb on this one, it just wouldn't be fair to Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and the rest of the producers, musicians and engineers who helped make this track the most overplayed song of 2017. We may not be too eager to hear it again in '18 (or ever), but that kind of accomplishment deserves some recognition.
SONG OF THE YEAR [SONGWRITER(S)] "Despacito" - Ramon Ayala Rodriguez, Justin Bieber, Jason Boyd, Erika Ender, Luis Fonsi & Marty James Garton Jr., [Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber]
Photo by Kai Z Feng. Provided by Atlantic Records
"4:44" - Shawn Carter & Dion Wilson, [Jay-Z] "1-800-273-8255" - Alessia Caracciolo, Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, Arjun Ivatury, Khalid Robinson & Andrew Taggart, songwriters [Logic Featuring Alessia Cara & Khalid] "That's What I Like" - Christopher Brody Brown, James Fauntleroy, Philip Lawrence, Bruno Mars, Ray Charles McCullough II, Jeremy Reeves, Ray Romulus & Jonathan Yip, [Bruno Mars] "Issues" - Benny Blanco, Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Julia Michaels & Justin Drew Tranter, [Julia Michaels] Julia Michaels may sound like she's a little broken, but she's about to make 2018 her bitch. The 24-year-old doesn't just lend her voice to this track, she helped write it. And in a world of dysfunctional relationships, insecurity and just plain ol' bad decision-making, why not celebrate someone who is just as messed up as we are?
ALBUM OF THE YEAR "Awaken, My Love!" - Childish Gambino 4:44 - Jay-Z DAMN. - Kendrick Lamar Melodrama - Lorde 24K Magic - Bruno Mars By now you're probably thinking I'm either on Bruno Mars' payroll or just playing favorites. Rest assured the answer is none of the above, but I've gotta give credit where credit is due. Of all the nominees in this category, only one of them transcends the rainbow of music flavors that 2017 had to offer. 24K Magic isn't just a pop album. It's a mouth-watering buffet of R&B, rap and dance tracks that serve up sweet and savory bites to satisfy even the pickiest palate. Any album that can pull that off is nothing less than pure gold. #03 2018 WIREMAG.COM 17

THE NEXT STEP IN MIAMI'S ART EVOLUTION By Michael W. Sasser
he visual arts in Miami, in evolving from fledgling and exaggerated to legitimately world class, have been pushed ahead by a number of landmark moments. From South Florida Art Center to the Bass Museum renovation, from the success of North Miami's Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) to Art Miami, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, to the arrival of Art Basel and launch of the Frost Museum. All the while, an energized arts community found enough common ground to support these developments and all the while, the arts culture grew... and grew.
However, realistically, the date ICA Miami forever imprinted itself on the local community was more recently – December 1, 2017. That's when ICA Miami moved into its spacious new location in the Miami Design District with 37,500 feet of exhibit space, a world-class permanent collection upon which to draw, and visionary leadership committed to providing South Florida art aficionados something to herald. It's a date that will forever ring important in South Florida. ICA Miami's new permanent home speaks of modern art on first approach, with a structure that impresses even from a distance and designed by Spanish architects Aranguren & Gallegos. Within, ICA's features offer an entirely

Another moment now ranks among these important developments. One could set the date as 2014 when the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA Miami) first launched. Although born from a schism in the contemporary arts community, ICA Miami went on to re-invent contemporary art exhibitions in temporary space. It also engaged the support of some of the most important figures in the visual arts community – uber supporter Norman Braman and Craig Robins.

new narrative for contemporary art, a venue for the aesthetic and for discussion – the very best elements of contemporary art anywhere on the planet. ICA Miami is a masterwork even before considering the galleries and content. That, dear readers, is an incomparable achievement even in the fabled development of arts in Miami. ICA Miami is not a museum to visit; not a place to which to take guests to show off Miami arts. It's a place to return to time and time again to challenge and re-define your own definition of contemporary art. The new building permits rich diversity or a comprehensive survey depending on its leadership's desires. Long-term and rotating exhibits are envisioned to occupy six ground floor galleries. The museum's central gathering space is the 15,000-square-foot Petra and Stephen Levin Sculpture Garden. The second and third floors are dedicated to a rotating series of special exhibitions. Site-specific commissions in the second/third floor stairway complete the fusion of art and architecture these that defines the entire museum.
Picasso, Yves Klein, Carolee Schneemann and Andy Warhol to name just a few. There is still plenty of time to enjoy The Everywhere Studio, and it will take some time to explore all the spaces of ICA Miami. As opposed to a building that houses art, it has achieved total integration between site and subject. Around any bend, you're likely to find something to make you stop, think and advance your appreciation of everything you see before and after. That's why ICA Miami represents another major step forward for arts in Miami. Author and writer Michael W. Sasser has previewed and reviewed art for hundreds of publications in South Florida and internationally.
ICA Miami is located at 4040 NE Second Avenue. For more information, visit icamiami.org. 22 WIREMAG.COM #03 2018

Some 100 works in sculpture, painting, video and installation explore the charged relationship between the studio and broad social change. Included in the exhibition are works by such artists as Pablo
