SCRIPTURE JOB

23:1-9;16-17

Then Job answered: “Today also my complaint is rebellious; his hand is heavy despite my groaning. Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his dwelling! I would lay my case before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. I would learn what he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me. Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power?

No; but he would give heed to me. There an upright person could reason with him,and I should be acquitted forever by my judge. “If I go forward, he is not there; or backward, I cannot perceive him; on the left he hides, and I cannot behold him;I turn to the right, but I cannot see him. God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me; If only I could vanish in darkness, and thick darkness would cover my face!

Worship Through Song Opening Hymn

Hymn #274. "I Love Your Church, O God" St. Thomas

I love your church, O God,

on earth your

blest abode, The people our redeemer saved with His own precious blood.

I love your church, O God, whose walls before you stand, Dear as the apple of your eye, and graven on your hand.

Beyond my highest joys, I prize your people's ways, The sweet communion, solemn vows, the hymns of love and praise. Offertory

Scripture Response Hymn #66 "Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise" St. Denio Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

Communion Hymn "All Belong Here" by Lenora Rand and Hannah Rand, c. 2017 Plural Guild Music

When you're not sure who you really are, When all you feel is the shape of your scars, And you have more wounds than you can count, Open your eyes, look all around, you aren't alone, this is your home.

Chorus Come and remember who you are here. Do this to remember who I am. Come and remember you belong here. All belong here.

When you don't know how to forgive, When locked doors seem like the only way to live, And you've got more questions than you can count, Open your eyes, look all around, you aren't alone, this is your home. (Chorus)

Bridge At this table come as you are, broken and bleeding's o.k. At this table eat and be filled. Come and drink in this grace. (Chorus)

This Tuesday we will meet to discuss the halloween event.

Winterville Fright Walk

This year the Winterville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Halloween event in the parking lot behind Main & Mill. WCC will host a booth at the event. There is a meeting Tuesday at 6:45 to make plans. If you'd like to participate, join us Tuesday evening. If not be on the look out for emails requesting treats and supplies needed for the event. See you October 31 from 3-8 pm.

Your generosity helps us to continue our outreach into the community. Your support allows us to help people in need of money for food, rent, and utilities. It also allows us to provide space for the Girl Scouts and other community groups. It is only through your donations that we can continue the work begun by Jesus. Thank You.

GIVING THANKS

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

Out of our call to “do justice” (Micah 6:8), we strive to demonstrate the fullness of God’s shalom through living out our faith by caring for God’s creation. . Setting a place at the table for persons of all gender expressions and sexual orientations.

We are committed to being a ProReconciling/Anti-Racist Ministry. We seek to deepen our understanding of systemic racism, as Christ compels us to advocate for justice, fairness and equality within our world.
