among us.
John 1:1-18 (NRSV]
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
SCRIPTURE
He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’ ”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known. One:

Worship Through Song Opening Hymn Hymn #167 "Go Tell It On the Mountain" Adapted by Jonathan Work, Jr., arr. Smith
Refrain Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.
While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night, Behold throughout the heavens, there shone a holy light. (Refrain)
The shepherds feared and trembled when, lo! above the earth, Rang out the angel chorus that hailed the Savior's birth: (Refrain)
Down in a lonely manger the humble Christ was born, And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn. ( Refrain)
Scripture Response Hymn #148 "O Come, All Ye Faithful" Adeste Fidelis
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born for our salvation, Jesus, to thee be all glory given; Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.
Refrain O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!
Communion Hymn "Love Has Come!"
(Bring a Torch)
Ken Bible, French Carol Melody attr. Saboly, arr. Fettke
Text c. 1996 and this arr. c. 1996, 1997 Integrity's Hosanna! Music
Love has come, a light in the darkness! Love explodes in the Bethlehem skies. See, all Heaven has come to proclaim it; hear how their song of joy arises; Love! Love! Born unto you, a Saviour! Love, Love! Glory to God on high.
Love is born! Come share in the wonder; Love is God now asleep in the hay. See the glow in the eyes of His mother; what is the name her heart is saying? Love! Love! Love is the name she whispers; Love! Love! Jesus, Immanuel.
Love has come, He never will leave us! Love is life everlasting and free. Love is Jesus within and among us; Love is the peace our hearts are seeking. Love! Love! Love is the gift of Christmas; Love! Love! Praise to You, God on high.
CLOSING HYMN
Hymn #67 "O God Our Help In Ages Past" (St. Anne) Watts, Croft, desc. Hustad, desc. c. 1990 Hope Pub. Co.
O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home!
Under the shadow of thy throne still may we dwell secure; Sufficient is thine arm alone, and our defense is sure. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, Be thou our guide while life shall last, and our eternal home.
GIVING THANKS Your generosity helps us to continue our outreach into the community. Your support allows us to help people in need of money for food, rent, and utilities. It also allows us to provide space for the Girl Scouts and other community groups. It is only through your donations that we can continue the work begun by Jesus. Thank You.
We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.
Out of our call to “do justice” (Micah 6:8), we strive to demonstrate the fullness of God’s shalom through living out our faith by caring for God’s creation. . Setting a place at the table for persons of all gender expressions and sexual orientations.
We are committed to being a ProReconciling/Anti-Racist Ministry. We seek to deepen our understanding of systemic racism, as Christ compels us to advocate for justice, fairness and equality within our world.
