THE WORD Prayer of Illumination Scripture Reading John 12:1-8

Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” (He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.) Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” ONE: This is the word of God for the people of God. ALL: Thanks be to God.

Join us in some spring cleaning. We'll be working on the grounds and in the building to prepare for Easter. Put on your overalls and your work boots and let's get this place ready for guests!

The Prayer Box

Each Sunday, in your bulletin, you will find a Prayer Request card. Write your request on the card. Place it in the Prayer Box at the rear of the sanctuary. The Elder will bring the box to the table during the opening hymn so that your petitions can be included in the Prayers of the People. Or you can speak your petition aloud, at the appropriate time during the prayers of the people.

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us. We are committed to being a ProReconciling/Anti-Racist Ministry. We seek to deepen our understanding of systemic racism, as Christ compels us to advocate for justice, fairness and equality within our world.

Out of our call to “do justice” (Micah 6:8), we strive to demonstrate the fullness of God’s shalom through living out our faith by caring for God’s creation. .

Setting a place at the table for persons of all gender expressions and sexual orientations.
