SCRIPTURE ISAIAH 43:1-7

But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you, I give people in return for you, nations in exchange for your life. Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you; I will say to the north, “Give them up,” and to the south, “Do not withhold; bring my sons from far away and my daughters from the end of the earth— everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Worship Through Song Opening Hymn Hymn #172 "We Three Kings Of Orient Are" (Kings of Orient) John H. Hopkins/Public Domain

1.We three kings of Orient are, bearing gifts we traverse afar Field and fountain, moor and mountain, following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light.

2 Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain, gold I bring to crown him again King forever, ceasing never, over us all to reign.

3 Frankincense to offer have I, incense owns a Deity nigh; Prayer and praising, gladly raising, worshiping God on high.

4 Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume breathes a life of gathering gloom, Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, sealed in the stone-cold tomb.

5 Glorious now behold him arise, Christ and God and sacrifice: Alleluia, Alleluia, sounds through the earth and skies.

O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light.

Scripture Response "When Jesus Came to Jordan" (Lancashire)

Hymn #172 "The Presbyterian Hymnal, pub. 1990 Westminster/John Knox Press Text: Fred Pratt Green,© 1980 Hope Publishing Company

1 When Jesus came to Jordan to be baptized by John, He did not come for pardon, but as God's Holy One. He came to share repentance with all who mourn their sins. To speak the vital sentence with which good news begins.

1. What feast of love is offered here, what banquet come from Heaven? What food of everlasting life, what gracious gift is given? This, this is Christ the King, the bread come down from Heaven. O taste and see and sing! How sweet the manna given! 3. What wine of love is offered here, what crimson drink from Heaven? What stream of everlasting life, what precious blood is given? This, this is Christ the King, the sweetest wine of Heaven. O taste and see and sing! The Son of God is given! "Hymn #162 "What Child Is This"

3 So bring him incense, gold and myrrh, come, rich and poor, to own him, The King of kings salvation brings, let loving hearts enthrone him. This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the son of Mary.

CLOSING HYMN "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Regney/Shayne, Text: © 1963, Shawnee Press

1. Said the night wind to the little lamb, do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, little lamb, do you see what I see? A star, a star, dancing in the night with a tail as big as a kite, With a tail as big as a kite.

2. Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear? A song, a song, high above the trees with a voice as big as the sea, With a voice as big as the sea.

3. Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, do you know what I know? In your palace warm, mighty king, do you know what I know? A Child, a Child shivers in the cold, let us bring Him silver and gold, Let us bring Him silver and gold.

4.

Said the king to the people everywhere, listen to what I say:

Pray for peace, people everywhere! Listen to what I say:

The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night He will bring us goodness and light, He will bring us goodness and light!

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

Out of our call to “do justice” (Micah 6:8), we strive to demonstrate the fullness of God’s shalom through living out our faith by caring for God’s creation. . Setting a place at the table for persons of all gender expressions and sexual orientations.

We are committed to being a ProReconciling/Anti-Racist Ministry. We seek to deepen our understanding of systemic racism, as Christ compels us to advocate for justice, fairness and equality within our world.
