About WAT a Run
Join our first ever WAT Family sponsored challenge and make a difference in the communities where we work!
WAT a Run is a two-day sponsored run - from Halesowen to each of our schools and back againtaking place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May 2023.
Members of the WAT Family are invited to run as many kilometres as they can to contribute towards an overall goal of 2000km across the two days.
On Day 1, runners will start at Halesowen Athletics Club, making their way through checkpoints at Windsor High School, Colley Lane Primary Academy, Kingswinford Academy and Cheslyn Hay Academy, before finishing the day at Great Wyrley Academy.
Day 2 will begin back at Great Wyrley Academy and continue to Rivers Primary Academy, Goldsmith Primary Academy, Windsor Olympus Academy, Manor Way Primary Academy, and Tenterfields Primary Academy, before ending at Halesowen Athletics Club with a 5km ‘fun run’ and celebratory WAT Family Event.
The route covers just under 90km, and participants can choose to run any distance from 1km to the full 90km route. The event pace will be moderate with regular rest stops along the way to ensure it is as inclusive as possible. Each marathon day is estimated to take around 5 hours, and the pace and time between checkpoints will be provided.
Please note that all participants running from school-to-school must be 18 years of age or above. WAT students will be encouraged to participate in a ‘fun run’ taking place at their respective schools, details will be shared soon! Or join us at the end of the challenge for the (up to) 5km ‘fun run’ at Halesowen Athletics Club.
By participating in WAT a Run, you’ll not only be supporting a great cause but also experience the benefits of regular exercise, such as improved cardiovascular health, increased strength and endurance, a boost to your overall mental wellbeing - and the sense of accomplishment and pride you’ll feel upon completing your chosen distance.
