The Windhoek City Market kicked off again on 23 July 2022 with the first market since the lock down began in March 2020.
What was known as a market by local entities, with good food, music and entertainment for kids was suddenly quiet, with no idea when it could continue or when a new “normal” would resume.

Market stalls included Indian street food by Indolicious, with freshly made items like Martabak Sapi, Lumpia, Risoles Ayam and Bakso G-WIZZGoreng.waspresent with their unforgettable Fish Pâté. (Gee-wizz, it’s that good!) If you missed this opportunity to get your tub of Pâté, you can still get it at Farm & Ocean in TheWindhoek.“krul& smul” team was hard at work slicing and frying potatos to feed the hungry queueing at their Healthystall.Thai offered an asian twist to this festival with their Panang Curry Chicken and Stir Fried Yellow Curry! Silver and Olive took this chance to sport their home made candles, Royal Milk Bath, Gemstone candles and the “light it up” matches. You can get yours at silverandolive@gmail.com.
An array of other items were also available, from home made biskuit, to clothing and accessories. All in all, it was a very successful day!
Visitors to the market came dressed in their team colors: Green for the Springboks or Black for the All Blacks. By guessing the final score to the game, you could stand a chance to win either a weekend for 2 at the Windhoek Country Club, Sunday lunch at the Kokerboom Restaurant or one of five official Welwichia supporter T-shirts.
