SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTERS The Gallatin Valley’s one stop shop for business resources is the Gallatin Business Resource Network website at GBRN.ORG. This outstanding collaboration of the City of Bozeman, Montana State University and the Chamber of Commerce is a vital tool in understanding the options available for new and existing businesses in the area. The Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce provides office facilities to support the Small Business Development Center of Bozeman, called the SBDC. The SBDC is part of a nationwide network of 1100 centers that provide confidential business advisory services and counseling for small businesses as defined by the Small Business Administration (SBA). Services include development of business plans and financial projections, or loan proposals to help businesses obtain financing from various lending sources. The counseling is on a one to one basis, and is provided at no charge. The center is supported by grants from the SBA and the Montana Department of Commerce, along with matching funds provided by Montana Community Development Corporation. Our mission is to “Guide Small Businesses to Success” and to spur economic and business development, growth, and retention. We serve Park and Gallatin counties. The counseling sessions are provided by Ryan Hansen, SBDC Business Advisor and Bozeman Market Manager. SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business,” is the best source of free and confidential small business advice to help you build your business—from idea to startup to success. Bozeman SCORE Chapter 263 is headquartered at the Chamber Center, 2000 Commerce Way. Appointments can be made by calling the Bozeman Chamber at 406-586-5421. Counselors will work with a client at a time convenient for the client, including through e-mail, at bznscore@bozemanchamber.com. The BACC also houses a Business Information Center (BIC). The BIC combines an extensive small business reference library of hardcopy books, publications and current management video tapes to help entrepreneurs plan their business, expand an existing business or venture into new business areas. The use of software for a variety of business applications offers clients a means for addressing diverse needs. The BIC has access to SBA Online, the agency’s national electronic bulletin board and access to the internet.
