MOVING TO WILLOW VALLEY COMMUNITIES: SMOOTH AND EFFICIENT

Willow Valley Communities adjusted processes throughout COVID-19, keeping the well-being and safety of Residents and Team Members as our top priority. When it came to the process of new Residents moving in, we quickly put in place specific measures to help ensure and maintain a safe environment for all, without making it more complicated. There are always new Residents excited to begin their new Life Lived Forward at Willow Valley Communities, and our teams are ready to make that transition seamless.

It starts with the moving companies. Movers coming to Willow Valley Communities are instructed to follow a specific set of guidelines to ensure the well-being of all during the move. Everyone entering our campus must go through a screening process. This consists of a Willow Valley Communities Team Member taking temperatures and asking questions of each person in the vehicle regarding recent travel, physical signs or symptoms of illness, and any direct contact with someone with a confirmed case or under investigation for COVID-19. Entry will not be permitted to anyone who answers “Yes” to any of these questions. Everyone on Willow Valley Communities’ property must also wear a mask at all times. Christine and Dale Orth, from Berks County, Pennsylvania, were the first Residents — along with their beloved Wee-Chon dog, Yaz — to move into Willow Valley Communities’ new SouthPointe at Lakes villa neighborhood. They arrived last August. Christine said the moving processes were very efficient. “The movers were in and out in no time!” she exclaimed.

Several Willow Valley Communities teams were involved with welcoming the Orths to their new residence, and everyone practiced safe protocols. Members of Willow Valley Communities’ Maintenance and Housekeeping Teams introduced themselves, and their Resident Mentor also greeted them. A neighbor left beautiful flowers with a kind note on their front porch. The Orths said they not only felt welcomed, but also safe, as everyone did what they were supposed to do while meeting with them. Christine added that there was one aspect of the move that she and her husband especially appreciated: “We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary lunch delivered to us by the Culinary Team in the middle of unpacking. What a delicious way to recharge!”

The Orths added that the data they receive from Willow Valley Communities, especially from Infection Prevention Manager Pamela Kinsey, allows them to make their own decisions about their lifestyle. “We are glad for the COVID-19 Update broadcast from Willow Valley Communities,” Christine noted. “It is very helpful. It helped us make decisions about visits during the holidays.”

The Orths are enjoying their new home and value the convenience of their new lifestyle. They live across the street from the Willow Valley Communities Cultural Center and look forward to taking full advantage of activities and clubs. Dale enjoys working in one of Willow Valley Communities’ four campus woodshops, and Christine, an accomplished psaltery player, plans to join the Dulcimer Club. Yaz loves his walks on the many trails near their home and always greets friends along the way.

The Orths particularly relish their new maintenance-free lifestyle — especially when it snows. Christine explained while chuckling, “Dale no longer has to plow the quartermile driveway at our home!”
