Congratulations to this month’s Notable Neighbor honoree, Jon Gonzalez! Many residents recognize Jon from his volunteer work with the Willowsford Waves, serving as Vice-President, then as President while the team doubled in size in 5 years!

During his leadership, he worked to expand the program to include simultaneous practices at both locations, and worked closely with the HOA, vendors, parents and staff to ensure the highest quality experience for everyone involved with the team.

“Jon fostered an environment that promoted team camaderie and community involvement. He attended practice every day, encouraged swimmers, assisted the coaching staff, and engaged families with pep talks,” said swim coach Peyton Webb. “He inspired swimmers to support one another, too!”

Says swim coach Eric Bateman, “I had the opportunity to work closely with Jon, and he proved to be an outstanding leader for the team and provided invaluable organizational structure to help the group grow.”

Jon has also served for several years on the Old Dominion Swim League Board, providing guidance for 32 swim teams throughout Loudoun County. Eric adds, “his experience in organizational management was vital in helping the group navigate the challenges we faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

In addition to remaining a passionate volunteer for Willowsford activities, Jon has also helped to raise funds, awareness and advocacy for over 1,000 nonprofits in the DC area!

In his spare time, Jon loves to travel, visit wineries and distilleries, and especially loves exploring Disney with his wife Katie and four kids Allie, Maddie, Chase, and Everly!
