MISSION STATEMENT

To work in partnership with local organizations, create and maintain traditions, enhance the community we live in, and inspire prosperous relationships with the community.

VISION STATEMENT

The Williston Police Association is a professional nonprofit organization committed to supporting our members, retired employees, the citizens of Williston and any individual or organization that the Williston Police Association feels could utilize our assistance. The Williston Police Association is comprised of active duty employees of the Williston Police Department without distinction as to rank, sex, color, language or religion.

The Williston Police Association shall engage in activities the Board of Directors and it’s members deems appropriate to accomplish the following purposes:

To assist in promoting the welfare of the community and it’s citizens

To be active and constructive in community projects

To foster and engage in civic activities

To help the needy in the community

To sponsor activities and support charities

To aid in the character and in the lives of the children of the community

To take an active role for the advancement of police work in the City of Williston

To assist in any way possible to any person gainfully employed by the Williston Police Department who is injured, disabled, or in connection with these purposes

As we look back at the past year, we are thankful for the generosity of so many in the community that have provided support to our Association. We would also like to thank our dedicated members for their time and effort in 2022 that helped make this Association as successful as it was.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH GUNS VS. HOSES SOFTBALL GAME

The Williston Police Association hosted the 53rd Annual Guns vs. Hoses Softball Game on September 10, 2022. Police won 20-19! This is the Associations longest tradition and most successful fundraiser.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH ALL CITY HALLOWEEN LOOP

The Williston Police Association, along with Williston Parks & Recreation, Williston Community Builders, Williston Public Library, and Mondak Animal Rescue, hosted the All City Halloween Loop at Spring Lake Park. This is a great event for the kids of the community to do a costume scavenger hunt, get some free books, and a big bag of candy!

OTHER EVENTS AND EXPENSES

ANGEL TREE

Association members volunteered their time and own money to help purchase Christmas gifts for children in foster care in NW North Dakota

Total Expenses: $647.66

CHAPLAIN SERVICES

The Williston Police Department recently welcomed 2 volunteer Chaplains and the Association voted to provide a small monetary thank you for their services. We started this program in October 2022.

MEMORIALS & MEMBER GIFTS

The Association will purchase memorial flowers, going away gifts, gift baskets for members for various occasions, and purchase thank you gifts for members who go above and beyond to help with the Association and the Police Department

Total Expenses: $778.22

CORPORATE CUP

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a Corporate Cup that members of the Association compete in Doing events such as trivia, 3 legged race, dodgeball, sack race, tug of war, etc

Total Expenses: $716.96

VOLUNTEER "BOOT MONEY”

Association members who volunteer throughout the year at events receive a monetary thank you that we call boot money This has always been a way to say thank you and to give members a little pocket cash to help purchase things such as boots for their patrolling

Total Expenses: $5,625 00

COMMISSIONER LUNCHEON

The City of Williston recently transferred the Police & Fire Commissioner, Tate Cymbaluk to be the Airport Commissioner and appointed James Bervig as the new Police & Fire Commissioner The Association hosted a luncheon to say Hello to James and Farewell to Tate.

SLAGLE FUND

The family of Retired Sergeant Les Slagle, who passed away in 2021, donated funds received from his funeral to the Williston Police Association Members voted that we use those funds towards items that could be given to families and children in need that have had Police presence in their home.

EMPLOYEE/OFFICER OF THE YEAR

Every year, the Williston Police Department selects the Officer of the Year and the Employee of the Year The Association gives them a monetary congratulations for receiving a tremendous award

BABY GIFTS

The Association teamed up with the Dakota Prairie Quilters Guild, who have volunteered their time to make baby blankets to be gifted to members of the Association who have welcomed a new baby into their life! There are also various baby items included with the gifted quilt

OUT OF THE DARKNESS WALK

Members of the Association volunteer to walk side by side with members of the Williston community to raise awareness for suicide prevention
